Remember, Cuomo was about the only positive story for Democrats from the 2010 election cycle and thus the king makers in the liberal media have been marching lock step for Cuomo ever since.
Sheriff’s are elected. I don’t believe the governor can remove them. They are the reason the state police report to the governor. Because the founding fathers created sheriffs, who essentially have an army. The FF gave the governor the state police (the name until the 1930’s when state police became Highway Patrol because of the Nazis.) Without the state police any county sheriff could arrest the governor. To forestall that type of political shenanigans the governor needed his own armed force. Using that force to collect revenue via speeding tickets came much later.
I hope the NY Sheriffs refuse to enforce these new anti-gun laws.
Yet the governor and many, many others had no problems speaking out against what were then the current laws.
Once they get their law in place, all dissent shall cease!
On a positive note, yesterday's news featured a development of interest to free men worldwide ~ it may well be possible to use 3-D technology to print up AMMUNITION.
That ought to give Cuomo nightmares.
The left hates freedom of speech. They have attacked it in every way they could.
Andrew Cuomo may go down in history as the unwitting architect of the 2008 financial meltdown:

Isn’t it true irony the gov rushed thru gun control legislation limiting magazines to 7 bullets but forgot to put in an exemption for law enforcement. The Hofstra student was killed, according to the Wash Post, after the home intruder was shot 7 times by the responding officer, the eighth shot hit the student in the head and killed her. So who is to say if the police were limited to 7 rounds, there may have been a different outcome. Who can know in advance how many bullets you will need to take down a single intruder let alone 2 or 3. Stupid laws always have unintended consequences. I guess the victim wasn’t permitted to have a gun to protect herself.
Note to Cuomo on threatening the County Sheriffs with removal:
Don’t try this in Texas. Holy carp.
These tactics of intimidation come naturally to the Cuomo family.
Fascism is the fashion.
Kehoe did not return calls, and Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi declined to comment. An administration official, speaking anonymously because he was not authorized to discuss a private meeting, "strongly" denied Cuomo had threatened to remove any sheriff.
Last week, the Sheriffs' Association as well as several elected sheriffs filed an amicus curiae brief supporting a federal challenge to the SAFE Act.
After the 1960s, NY governors might well be able to remove a county sheriff. It might be a bluff. I don't know.
So if, in the 1950s, a southern sheriff took it on himself to oppose Jim Crow, Cuomo would have had heartburn with that.
