DETROIT As many as 40 protestors held signs and wads of cash outside New St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Detroit Saturday protesting a Wayne County gun buyback event.
Jerry Acker, a partner in Goodman Acker, P.C law firm, fronted $50 Meijer gift cards for each of the 200 guns collected, a cost of $10,000.
Meanwhile, gun advocates waited outside offering cash for guns the government hoped to take off the streets and out of homes.
"In many cases, they'll end up circulating back in the communities we're trying to take them out of," said Wayne County Chief of Police Operations Rafael Washington said.
One pro-gun protester was detained temporarily and cited for disorderly conduct.
Washington said he was "impeding the walkway," "becoming very vocal," and "interfering with the process."

We assume innocence until proven guilty.
The word “allegedly” is reserved for violent criminals. The person arrested clings to God and to guns, so he does not deserve the presumption of innocence. All he deserves is an IRS audit.
Rick Ector was also buying.

What kind of junk are they buying for $50?
Staple guns, glue guns and water pistols.
Yet how many gang bangers have been arrested in these buybacks while they are standing in line? I am sure there have been murderers who got rid of their guns.
As usual, the gov targets the easy marks and lets the criminals walk free.
Pretty sure the folks outside offering cash in broad daylight were intending to buy some weapons and then sell them in back alleys late at night to gang bangers. Either that or sell them at gun shows proving the truth about the “gun show loophole”. Not! Just some folks trying to make some money using the free enterprise system. Pretty sad state of affairs eh?
Must be, no way I’d sell mine for $50 a piece.
Yeah, wrong word.
