IRS Attack Against Tea Party Assaulted Civility
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 16 May 2013 | Editorial

Posted on 05/17/2013 12:17:53 PM PDT by IBD editorial writer

Democracy: The IRS targeting of Tea Party groups is mind-boggling not only for its abuse of government power. It's also disturbing for what it intended to do: destroy civil society, opening a door for tyranny. The formation in 2009 of hundreds of Tea Party groups at the rallying cry of CNBC news editor Rick Santelli, from places as diverse as Lowell, Mass., Pleasanton, Calif., Asheville, N.C., Yuma, Ariz., and Lincoln, Neb., among hundreds of others, was a spontaneous reaction by ordinary American citizens to an overspending, oversized government whose overreach called into question its constitutionality. Yet it was these very Tea Parties that were specially targeted by the IRS in its outrageously intrusive efforts to learn their every secret, to leak those secrets to a hostile, slanderous media, and to delay beyond justification their approvals as tax-free institutions in an effort to suppress them — while granting those permissions easily to leftist ones . As an agency that favored expanding its own power, the IRS and its political masters naturally felt threatened by Tea Party success, seen in the rallies of millions in February and then April 2009, as well as the proliferation of groups across the country.

Having watched part of this morning’s US House Ways and Means Committee Hearing on Obama’s IRS, the thought occurred to me that there can be a strong case made for Obama’s IRS rapidly becoming a Domestic Terrorist Organization. A Middle Class, SELECTIVE Domestic Terrorist Organization, of course.

Second thought was that NONE of the Obamanation scandals are Bush’s fault.

It looks like far left groups are trying to intimidate conservatives on twitter now. I’ve picked up a half dozen hard left followers like Unite blue today and other conservatives are noticing the same.

They’re watching us and considering my attitude and mouth, they ain’t happy. LOL

usurpation after usurpation But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Why, why why are we grilling a temp who has been in the "Acting" position for a few short months?

Why is the tramp who now sits over deathcare for the IRS, and who oversaw this scandal as a living, not the first one frog marched into the committee?

Are we just this stupid???

As Peggy Noonan said, Presidents set the tone of each administration. This one is run by a hyperpolitical, snarky, thuggish, Chicago-style politician. And that’s exactly the way the IRS acted here.

It would be interesting to find out if any 501C4 applications coming from “Black xyz” or “Black this or that” organizations received the same stall/rejection action by the IRS.

I would be willing to be they were fast tracked just like Obama’s campaign.

Benghazi. IRS. AP telephone logs et al. Scandals as far as the eye can see. Every Conservative, Christian, Libertarian, Republican and even a few Democrats are all outraged and shocked. (shocked, I tell you) Congress is even “holding hearings”. I think the real question is; What if anything will be done about these scandals? In my opinion, all we may see is some career bureaucrat or low level appointee “held in contempt”. Being “held in contempt of Congress” sure shut Attorney General Eric Holder down did it not?
In the same manner, I figure that any bureaucrat or appointee that will be “held in contempt of Congress” will end up in with a better job at "higher wages. Expense paid and a car" (thanks Roger Miller)plus more and better benefits.
Once more: KUBUKI THEATER for the masses. WE the people can and do control our city, county and state governments, but the Federal behemoth is now too big to rein in. Not with the career politicians we have now.

The reports today are downright chilling as the regime did not seem happy with only stalling/rejecting right leaning organizations but the heads of a couple of Tea Party organizations were paid “visits” by the FBI and DHS.

This was life in East Germany and the Soviet Union.

Does anyone honestly think this can be resolved via the election process?

IMO the progressives are too dug in, in too many departments to allow new elected officials to change their ways.

From the article:

Italian communist theoretician Antonio Gramsci in particular considered [civil society groups] an obstacle even worse than overthrowing the state... Gramsci advocated establishing something he called "civil hegemony" as a means of subverting independent civil society groups and then merging them with the state as means of making the state supreme.

The 1960s radicals called this "the long march through the institutions."

They knew that without true civil society organizations to promote self-government, such as the Tea Party, all that's left is an all-powerful state that citizens must face alone.

Somewhere here on FR is a thread containing a report of an applicant whose group's title was Media Trackers (I think). It was stalled for around 18 months. Every time he checked on it, he was told it was "still under review".

He changed the group's title to Greenhouse something-or-other to make it look like an enviro-weenie group, and got approval in 3 weeks.

Even with the catch phrase in there.

That would show they are being fair to Tea Party groups.

This is why there should not be a single thing let by in Congress, (in the house)...

I don’t give a rats arse if it is a bill that would save babaies froma burning building...Nothing should get passed no matter what it is...

Lets make the next 3.5 years the best “do nothing” government this country has ever seen...

The less they do, the better the country will be for now...

Total gridlock!!! No compramising, no matter what the issue is...And be extremely open, and un-apologetic about shutting the process down...

There is no more trust left in this group of non-transparent, non-virtuous representation left in D.C., so it needs to be shut down and given a timeout, right now...Before the next bit of the agenda to continue destroying this country is voted on, much less debated...

Immigration reform IS amnesty, no matter how much you lovers of Marco Rubio and otherr quisling republicans are onboard with this debacle...Time to stand up and be counted...

We’ve tried to be nice, be liked, and this is what it has gotten us...If we are to be vilified by the press that continues to slant things to the advantage of the people hell bent on destroying this country anyway, why make it confusing to the low information voters in this country...Come right out and tell it like it is, and let the idiots say whatever they want to say...They’ll be doing it anyway...

I could go on and on, but my instructions as a constituent is simple to my Rep...And these are my “reasonable” expectations...

Civility may return someday, I hope it does, but sometimes you need a little peaceful rebellion to ge4t us back on track...Because if these shlups allow this lack of civility to get into the streets (which is what the left really wants) no one will win at that point...And we had better hope they put a lid on it quick!!!

Just my opinion...
