Democracy: The IRS targeting of Tea Party groups is mind-boggling not only for its abuse of government power. It's also disturbing for what it intended to do: destroy civil society, opening a door for tyranny. The formation in 2009 of hundreds of Tea Party groups at the rallying cry of CNBC news editor Rick Santelli, from places as diverse as Lowell, Mass., Pleasanton, Calif., Asheville, N.C., Yuma, Ariz., and Lincoln, Neb., among hundreds of others, was a spontaneous reaction by ordinary American citizens to an overspending, oversized government whose overreach called into question its constitutionality. Yet it was these very Tea Parties that were specially targeted by the IRS in its outrageously intrusive efforts to learn their every secret, to leak those secrets to a hostile, slanderous media, and to delay beyond justification their approvals as tax-free institutions in an effort to suppress them while granting those permissions easily to leftist ones . As an agency that favored expanding its own power, the IRS and its political masters naturally felt threatened by Tea Party success, seen in the rallies of millions in February and then April 2009, as well as the proliferation of groups across the country.

Having watched part of this mornings US House Ways and Means Committee Hearing on Obamas IRS, the thought occurred to me that there can be a strong case made for Obamas IRS rapidly becoming a Domestic Terrorist Organization. A Middle Class, SELECTIVE Domestic Terrorist Organization, of course.
Second thought was that NONE of the Obamanation scandals are Bushs fault.
This is why the 2nd Amendment was written. It wasn’t about hunting deer.
It looks like far left groups are trying to intimidate conservatives on twitter now. I’ve picked up a half dozen hard left followers like Unite blue today and other conservatives are noticing the same.
They’re watching us and considering my attitude and mouth, they ain’t happy. LOL
Conservative writer/reporter Tom Gantert says he got unexpected scrutiny.
I wonder if “attackwatch” and several others were part of this irs criminality.
What your quote says is exactly where this nation is, so we’re doomed.
Why is the tramp who now sits over deathcare for the IRS, and who oversaw this scandal as a living, not the first one frog marched into the committee?
Are we just this stupid???
Bring out Lois Lane, or whatever the 'eff her name is. Miller is a throw down gun!
As Peggy Noonan said, Presidents set the tone of each administration. This one is run by a hyperpolitical, snarky, thuggish, Chicago-style politician. And that’s exactly the way the IRS acted here.
Good quote, and spot on.
Isn’t it rich that the first black president and the first black attorney general have teamed up to preside over institutionalized civil rights violations?
Just think what would be happening if the IRS had targeted say...
The Black Panthers
There would be blood in the streets.
Twitter is a leftist cesspool, anyway...
Just let ‘em know that gun sales aren’t at record highs because people are taking up hunting for a hobby.
It would be interesting to find out if any 501C4 applications coming from “Black xyz” or “Black this or that” organizations received the same stall/rejection action by the IRS.
I would be willing to be they were fast tracked just like Obama’s campaign.
Last night, Larry Kudlow interviewed a Tea Party guy in Texas who was put through the wringer for 26 months. His name is Rodriguez, a Latino, a *protected class*. So now the IRS criminal activities have been elevated to a hate crime.
They’ll have a TEA Party for REAL this time. And it will make Boston look like a fairy tale. Every IRS office should have pickets.
Have Tar, need feathers.
It’s already out that all liberal sounding applications sailed through without scrutiny.
They need to be more fearful of the People.
Who knows? But I did hear of a Tea Party organizer that got tired of his application being slow-walked...so he changed the name to “Green” something or other...and it sailed through in weeks.
The reports today are downright chilling as the regime did not seem happy with only stalling/rejecting right leaning organizations but the heads of a couple of Tea Party organizations were paid “visits” by the FBI and DHS.
This was life in East Germany and the Soviet Union.
Does anyone honestly think this can be resolved via the election process?
IMO the progressives are too dug in, in too many departments to allow new elected officials to change their ways.
Ma&Pa Kettle would have been refused too, I reckun.
What a sad commentary on those who hate this country all while they seek to dismantle and destroy whoever and whatever they deem worthy of their nefarious efforts.
The only hope we have for ending this peacefully is through our state governments.
Italian communist theoretician Antonio Gramsci in particular considered [civil society groups] an obstacle even worse than overthrowing the state... Gramsci advocated establishing something he called "civil hegemony" as a means of subverting independent civil society groups and then merging them with the state as means of making the state supreme.
The 1960s radicals called this "the long march through the institutions."
They knew that without true civil society organizations to promote self-government, such as the Tea Party, all that's left is an all-powerful state that citizens must face alone.
The Ruling Oligarchy will tolerate no challengers.
That needs to be sharpened:
The ruling treacherous tyrants will tolerate no challengers
Faint hearts have nearly lost America
Somewhere here on FR is a thread containing a report of an applicant whose group's title was Media Trackers (I think). It was stalled for around 18 months. Every time he checked on it, he was told it was "still under review".
He changed the group's title to Greenhouse something-or-other to make it look like an enviro-weenie group, and got approval in 3 weeks.
I imagine a group called Muslim Islamic Extremist and African-American Democracy Tea Party could get approved pretty quickly.
Even with the catch phrase in there.
That would show they are being fair to Tea Party groups.
It’s not like this is the first time our civility has been assaulted.
It was about hunting Injuns. And bank robbers. And Mehicano Terroristas.
According to someone on FNC tonite, Miller was the one who promoted that Ingram woman to the Obamacare IRS position.
This is why there should not be a single thing let by in Congress, (in the house)...
I don’t give a rats arse if it is a bill that would save babaies froma burning building...Nothing should get passed no matter what it is...
Lets make the next 3.5 years the best “do nothing” government this country has ever seen...
The less they do, the better the country will be for now...
Total gridlock!!! No compramising, no matter what the issue is...And be extremely open, and un-apologetic about shutting the process down...
There is no more trust left in this group of non-transparent, non-virtuous representation left in D.C., so it needs to be shut down and given a timeout, right now...Before the next bit of the agenda to continue destroying this country is voted on, much less debated...
Immigration reform IS amnesty, no matter how much you lovers of Marco Rubio and otherr quisling republicans are onboard with this debacle...Time to stand up and be counted...
We’ve tried to be nice, be liked, and this is what it has gotten us...If we are to be vilified by the press that continues to slant things to the advantage of the people hell bent on destroying this country anyway, why make it confusing to the low information voters in this country...Come right out and tell it like it is, and let the idiots say whatever they want to say...They’ll be doing it anyway...
I could go on and on, but my instructions as a constituent is simple to my Rep...And these are my “reasonable” expectations...
Civility may return someday, I hope it does, but sometimes you need a little peaceful rebellion to ge4t us back on track...Because if these shlups allow this lack of civility to get into the streets (which is what the left really wants) no one will win at that point...And we had better hope they put a lid on it quick!!!
Just my opinion...
Expecting that from these folks is like expecting a scorpion not to sting a frog. It's just not in their nature.
Dn't need n Weatherman t see which waybama's wind
"Behind the Violence, Says Jane Alpert, Was Sex"
--November 09, 1981--
"The leaders of the Weather Underground, she believes, followed a similar pattern of constantly shifting sexual alliances..."
"He [Bill Ayers] also writes about the Weathermen's sexual experimentation as they tried to 'smash monogamy.' The Weathermen were 'an army of lovers,' he says, and describes having had different sexual partners, including his best male friend."
Source: New York Times, September 11, 2001: "No Regrets for a Love Of Explosives; In a Memoir of Sorts, a War Protester Talks of Life With the Weathermen"
"...the Weathermen, when not engaged in group sex, committed such revolutionary acts as parading with a Viet Cong flag through a local park on Independence Day and spray-painting the walls of a high school with the slogans, "Off the Pigs," "Viet Cong Will Win," and "F#$k U.S. Imperialism."..."
"What happens next bears watching closely, as does the response of the president, ex-Speaker Pelosi, and others on the left. Encouraged by leftists in the Democratic Party and funded by left-leaning nonprofit organizations and celebrity contributors, Occupy Wall Street may in time morph into something resembling the radical factions of the late 1960s and 1970s."
Thanks IBD editorial writer.
Ayn Rand knew what she was talking about when she made that profound quote, since she was an immigrant to the US from the Soviet Union!
Excellent job on the editorial!!!
Bump — nicely done.
Democrats and those involved in the scandals have contempt for the Republican congress and view them as self serving bafoons who may faint outrage but in the end they know there will be no definitive justice.
“This is why the 2nd Amendment was written. It wasnt about hunting deer.”
I believe we should, perhaps, prepare for the true reason.
