Monday morning, Congressmen Steve Scalise and John Flemingboth Republicans representing districts in Louisianasent a letter signed by 59 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon, demanding answers regarding Pentagon officials meeting with an anti-Christian extremist.
This story began two weeks ago when Breitbart News reported on at least one such meeting. Since that time it has become a growing controversy, as Breitbart News reported additional disturbing details. Now Congress is weighing in.
The Scalise-Fleming letter begins:
It has come to our attention that as recently as April 23, 2013, Pentagon officials met with Mr. Michael Mikey Weinstein, Founder and President of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), to discuss religious freedom in the military. As we have great concern regarding numerous inflammatory statements from Mr. Weinstein in recent weeks, we are seeking further clarification on the meeting that took place late last month.

OH yeah.... like Hagel is going to be REAL forthcoming on that request!
Were all 59 congressman republicans? I bet they were.
Hagel doesn’t like them Christian’s anymore then them dam Jews......
That's why meeting with anti-christain groups is so important! It's one of those Rumsfeldianisms.............Feeding the gator so he'll eat you last.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Don’t let him (them) get away with it. Keep the heat on until we set things right - and keep ‘em right.
Because his duties call for him to meet with 0bama on a regular basis to make it look like they're doing something.
With everything going on in DC this week, I’m wondering if this is either a perfectly well-planned assault against the administration or a deviously underhanded attempt to overwhelm the system.
Good question. I would like to think that it is both a well-timed assault against the administration and an attempt to overwhelm the system. But then I remember that this is coming from the House Republicans. The ones that I know who signed the letter have exhibited their ability to be devious but only when it comes to passing bills which are not in the best interests of American citizens and conservatives.

May light shine on all the dark doings and dark corners of this administration from hell. And after the light gets shined, start the legal processes!

BTW - the entire Breitbart article is a must read, short and pithy, one more quote:
In a recent posting in his own words, Mr. Weinstein characterized men and women of the Christian faith as, monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans and offered consent to labeling individual faith based family groups as hate groups. Mr. Weinstein also [referenced such individuals and groups] as die-hard enemies of the United States Constitution.
He also compares regular Christians to Stalin and Hitler, and Christians in the military to the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Elsewhere I've read that Mikey has also said he's never met a fundamentalist Mozelm who caused any trouble, or maybe it was never a fundatmentalist Mozelm. IOW Mozlems are wonderful people, Nature's Noblemen, and Christians are evildoers.
Why wouldn’t these geniuses be writing a letter to Weinstein to ask him what the bleep he wants? He’s a well known anti Christian freek who just can’t work up the nerve to belly ache about any other religion getting too close to gov’t. It might be instructive if his ( Weinstein’s) own affairs could stand a little scrutiny?
Anti-Christian extremist and anti-Jewish extremists need to be added to Janet’s terrorist list. And the FBI’s.
Anti-Christian extremist and anti-Jewish extremists need to be added to Janets terrorist list. And the FBIs.
If Hagel doesn’t want to explain, the FBI and IRS should look into him. Good for the effing liberal gander, good for the goose...
What makes you think they aren't?
“What makes you think they aren’t?”
A justice department employee directory doesn’t count.
59 Representatives out of a total of 435. That’s 13.5%. I applaud those 59, but it isn’t a very good showing.
We all know they have all these unnamed aides who do all the grunt work. Nothing to say that some decent conservatives aren’t capable of doing this, gather everything they can and dump it all at once. Or rather, a bunch now and a whole lot more later. Time will tell.
I would also suspect that the various support staffs get together and write most of the bills. So not only do they not read the bills, they don’t write then so it’s no wonder we get the “deer in the headlights” look when we ask them questions at town hall meetings.
Most Congressmen I know simply don’t want to be bothered with all the minutia unless it involves a photo op. Also see way too much of this in our local government. Politicians come and go but the staff remains forever - they never give up on a pet issue and never seem to go away unless they finally retire.
I am in agreement with you. This is going to sound crude, but I honestly have seen more ‘losers’ in those staff positions who seem bent on righting some perceived wrong.
Maybe the sunlight needs to shine on that underbelly one of these days.
Guess it’s always been that way, but the difference now is the people who are led around by the media and/or are just plain indifferent. There doesn’t seem to be a common cause with the majority of Americans these days. Thanks barry, the great uniter! What a joke.
