DAFRUSA:
The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) hosted a group of prominent figures from the African American community at the National Press Club to speak out against gun control legislation currently being considered on Capitol Hill.--snip--
The news conference is to rally behind the tradition of former slave and great American orator Frederick Douglass who said, "A man's rights rest in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box."

"I want to thank the Lord for our Constitution. I also want to thank the N.R.A. for its legacy. The National Rifle Association was started...founded by religious leaders who wanted to protect free slaves from the Ku Klux Klan. They would raise money, buy arms, show the free slaves how to use those arms and protect their families. God bless you. Many of us probably wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the N.R.A."
Star Parker, CURE president and founder
“I believe that it is our duty to stand together and challenge the proposals currently on the table in the Senate, which invoke painful memories of Jim Crow laws and black codes.”
“Black history is rife with government demands for background checks in order to qualify for constitutional rights. All Americans should be concerned.”
WOW, I did not know this about the NRA, I now have an even deeper respect for them.
Sure would be nice to see a national television campaign waged...put commercials like this, etc. on shows that the ignorant Obama base watches—crap like “American Idol” and the like.
Wow. I wish this would get in the news. I’ll do my part. There is always patch.com, local town news sites. There’s always readers’ comments allowed on articles...and this will make great ‘ammo’ in opposition to the guncontrol loonies who always come out. Thanks.
HONESTY!!! Such a refreshing thing to see. Not protecting the D party at all costs, but just plain ole “This is right, and this is why.”
Here’s what strikes me about this:
If these were white men speaking many of these words (specifically, connecting God with guns) then they would be called “Backwoods rednecks.”
I say, God bless these men!
They are speaking Truth- and in our cultiure, I’m hearing less and less of that each day .

Shall we assume college Black Studies programs play this quote down?

Too little.
Too late.
Urban American blacks are now the primary reservoir of racism in America.
The Zimmerman trial will bring all of the Black Racism Hucksterism into plain sight.
In the aftermath of that trial verdict, let us hope that ‘plain sight’ is not iron v. scope sights.
MKL must be spinning in his grave.
Probably not.
Problem is that our people mostly have jobs and aren’t available whenever we need a stage display...
God Bless theses men to stand up and tell the truth about Gun Rights being indispensable individual rights.
Men & women like this more than all others knows the extreme danger of letting a government disarm its population of the means to defend themselves from a hostilities or indifferent majority.
