If gun control advocates hoped to prevent blueprints for the worlds first fully 3D-printable gun from spreading online, that horse has now left the barn about a hundred thousand times.
Thats the number of downloads of the 3D-printable file for the so-called Liberator gun that the high-tech gunsmithing group Defense Distributed has seen in just the last two days, a member of the group tells me. The guns CAD files have been ten times more popular than any component the group has previously made available, parts that have included the body of an AR-15 and the magazine for an AK-47.This has definitely been our most well-received download, says Haroon Khalid, a developer working with Defense Distributed. I dont think any of us predicted it would be this much.

Anti-freedom tyrants can’t control guns that haven’t gone through their Soviet-esque laws they want to impose!
I hope there are 4 times as many guns in this country by next year!!!!!!!!!!
That 100K doesn’t take into account the number of people around the world who downloaded the plans via bit torrent. When I checked earlier this morning the plans were still available via bit torrent and there were thousands of seeders for them.
Exactly. *grins*
This can’t be right. The US Government said they ‘took control of the information”.
Soooo, the firing pin, cartridges & bullets are all made of plastic, too?/sarc
Can't be spotted my ass.
I read the instructions that came with the blueprints last night.
It’s worth mentioning that they explicitly call for a small cube of steel to be inserted into a hollow in the gun so that the resulting weapon meets US laws on detectable firearms.
B. Search for Liberator_First_3D_Printable_gun and/or DefDistDEFCADMEGAPACKV4.2 (all defense distributed files pack). (won't be hard to find thousands have popped up overnight)
C. Download
D. Enjoy making Obama cry
You can’t stop the signal Mel.
Something else I remember from the instructions. The barrel should be replaced after each shot (at least - this is the recommendation). So it’s recommended that users make several barrels and carry them around. I hope I have that right.
This means that the Liberator isn’t exactly an assault weapon (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
If anybody needs the CAD file, send me your Email via “private mail.”
If the gov’t asks, just say “Hello, I’m a Mexican drug lord.”
They’ll wish you well and supply free ammo.
If that doesn’t work, say “Hi, I’m with the Moslem Brotherhood.”
That works even better than the drug cartel story, and includes a free AK-47 in an attractive display case engraved in Arabic.
PS the State Dept is using the “might violate international arms treaty” excuse to seize control of the creator’s website. Aka “The blue helmets in Belgium haven’t decided whether you can own a 1-shot plastic pistol that breaks after a few shots.”
NOTE: PIRATE BAY still has the “torrent” files available for download (free).
It’s amazing how quickly the State Dept moves when Americans encounter a glimmer of freedom.
If the Government calls, just pretend your house is under attack by armed al-Qaeda foot soldiers, with RPGs and mortars.
The feds will hang up and never contact you again, then deny they ever contacted you.
The downside is, they’ll blame some random guy from Skokie and toss him in jail.
We might experience some slight turbulence... and then explode.

LOL! You have a fine sense of sarcasm!
I wondered if anyone would get the reference.

I prefer this. It doesn’t require a thousand dollar plastics printer
