Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Daniel Taub, condemned on Thursday a report by the Church of Scotland that questioned the divine right of Jews to the land of Israel.

According to traditional Christian thinking, the prophecies of the return of the Jewish homeland tof the Jews occurred after the Babylonian exile. It was only in America in the 19th century when some Christians bought into the Zionist propaganda which spread quickly throughout America and to Great Britain as well. Prior to that time, virtually all Christians understood that the covenant with the Jews had long expired at the time of Christ, being replaced by a new covenant which was not based solely on bloodline but on faith. Thus the early Church in its hymns called itself “the new Israel”. Protestantism distorted this teaching (like so many other teachings), which led to the US and Britain’s support of the forming of the modern state of Israel in the 1940s, and the Middle East has been a bloody mess ever since.
