They summoned a whistleblower to Capitol Hill, but instead they got a virtuoso storyteller.
Gregory Hicks, the No. 2 U.S. diplomat in Libya the night Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed, was to be the star witness for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the man leading the probe of the Obama administrations handling of the attack on the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.
But despite Issas incautious promise that the hearings revelations would be damaging to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Hicks didnt lay a glove on the former secretary of state Wednesday. Rather, he held lawmakers from both parties rapt as he recounted the events of that terrifying night revealing a made-for-Hollywood plot with a slow, theatrical delivery and genuine emotion.
He spoke of watching TV at his residence in Tripoli when a security officer ran into my villa yelling, Greg! Greg! The consulates under attack.

Well, at least the WaPo is writing about it!
I think there was enough testimony yestery for impeachment
No interest in the so-called press in finding out what happened. Only whether or not it hurts Fearless Leader.
Official Reality being asserted, here.
Guess I don’t need to see what he actually said, it’s enough to know it didn’t harm anyone.
Milbank is a Captain Dunsel.
The WaPo has the b*lls to use the word yarn after all the bull Obama they’ve subjected us to for all these years?
Silly me, I would have thought that the government whistleblower would possess more standards five years after he passed away than any WaPo so-called “journalist” has now...or for that matter...ever did.
Nice try, WaPo. But remember, virtually anyone out there with an IQ over room temp who has not been educated in a public school can see right through your shoddy writing and non-existent logic.
Yeah I think they buried the lede for sure here, which was that the scandal was less that there was an attack on the embassy, but that the whole administration then proceeded to lie about what happened for months to come.
It was the offensive coverup blaming it on a “conservative” youtube video that was the crime, and that DID come out in this testimony.
If they had said there should have been more security in Benghazi but we acrewed up and there wasn’t and now people are dead, we would not still be talking about it.
Disgusting, that lil ponce Milbank would CRUCIFY George Bush if this happened under his watch.
That’s pretty obscure...
Good idea! How ‘bout Capt Herbert Dunsel?
Um, I wouldn’t want to touch her even with gloves on. Or even in a full hazmat rig.
“Give my regards to Captain Dunsel”.- Commodore Wesley
“No smoking gun” will be repeated over and over and at least 5 times on Sunday
HOW'S THE WEATHER ON YOUR PLANET??
Blatant journalistic malpractice.
Which part of the testimony can you prove is false?
MSNBC Morning Joe today was talking about it at length, with grim faces as if someone had died (other than the victims). They are still hoping to keep any damage away from Hillary.
The demotion of Hicks for questioning the Youtube Fantasy is as much of a smoking gun as there ever was.
Put on top of it - the instruction to not meet with the congressman Cheevitz? that went to Libya. Then followed up with the state dept attorney trying to horn in on all the meetings.
Sure is a cover-up.
Several things Dana Doesn’t dare mention however.
First is the TWO orders to stand down sent to Special Ops personel that were boarding a plane from Tripoli to Bengazi.
Second, the email sent from the Second in command at State to others including the Most Senior Administration Personel (Hicks) in libya at the time at the State Department that Trey Gowdy read from, that stated that this Person TOLD the Libyan President the day after the attack it was a terrorist attack with ties to Ansar Alshari. Followed by weeks of intentional Lieing to the public and congress as to the cause of the attack.
Third, the Babysitter that was sent from the SOS to shadow Rep. Chaffitz and Ambassador Hicks ordered to NOT meet with him without the SOS lawyer present. When a meeting took place that the SOS Lawyer didn’t have clearence for, the phone Call from Hitlary’s Chief if Staff Cheryl Mills.
Dana care to comment? Nah I thought not. You are too busy sucking the Administrations ass. It’s Pathetic you call yourself a “Reporter”.
Yup. You can bet on that.
Bring on more hearings, whistle blowers and witnesses. We'll see how long this goes being a "no smoking gun" event...
The guy reminds me of a brunette Perez Hilton.
Circling the wagons.
Trying to redefine the reality we all saw and heard yesterday.
And Congressman Chaffetz was not the only one crying.
The media have eagerly transitioned from the fourth estate to the fifth column enemy of We The People. Sadly, the dumbed down public haven't a clue whom the enemy is.
You should get a Purple Heart for watch the quisling Scarbucks show ... well, almost. That would be a denegration of the medal, so best not to award it for injury during valor under mind assault.
Ignoring? ... cnn is actively squelching the story. When the noise level gets to a certain level, they will switch to cover-up dissonance mode. ‘A greater hive of scum and villainy ...’
This is what MUST happen. I didn't get the impression that Rep Cheffetz, Rep Gowdy, and Rep Issa have any intention of letting this horror sink quietly beneath the sea.
Part II hearings should include the need to determine WHO gave the "stand down" order - twice! - and WHERE was the CIC who left these Americans to die.
You have to buy this kind of loyalty. But, whatever the Democrats paid, it wasn’t worth it.
Meh, no Impeachment. I watched it. Needs more of a smoking gun. And no, I’m not saying there might not be something but there must be more. Maybe it’s the Prosecutor in me talking.
We need someone better on this than Issa. He seems out of his depth here and not particularly prepared.
We reach, brothers.
Milbank, Obama’s fella tis tis.
In 2001, in the early months of the GWB administration, his blatant hostility to President Bush was so extreme that even the rest of the mainstream media found it over-the-top. Later he became a regular guest on MSNBC...and may still be since I avoid watching it (but occasionally see who is on as I am clicking past that channel with the remote).
Good. That's what we want. I remember Watergate like it was yesterday.
The lame stream media was the arch enemy of Nixon. It was the whole reason for Watergate. The constant attacks made it hard to get a conviction before he resigned. He was always in the limelight, so he knew what was comin’.
Now the House has a chance to go under the radar and blindside the arrogant SOB. It'll be too late for this primadonna to resign before he's impeached AND convicted. And the LSM will go down in flames with him.
This is the PERFECT opportunity to demolish the leftist communists boobs once and for all.
Have you failed to include the enemy in your calculus, the enemy called ‘the media’, who control what the vast majority of Americans have as a facts base?
milbank... you whore for satan... you cannot stop the destruction of all that you love... the end is coming for all of you traitors. It may take time but the truth will win out.
Sanctimonious, protected little pissant “journalists” who deign to ridicule the accounts of someone whose organization had been attacked by terrorists, and his boss killed. Milbank would be hiding under the bed pissing his pink panties if he were caught up in something like that.
“Ms” Dana is special, he is a special idiot!!!
