More Germans need state help to supplement their wages—because their jobs pay so badly they cannot pull themselves above the poverty line, figures from the Federal Employment Agency (BA) showed on Wednesday.

This could fuel an ongoing debate over introducing a minimum wage.

Lots of people in Germany have part-time “mini-jobs” for which they earn just enough to have to pay social contributions—around €800 ($1,052.80) per month—and according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, many of these people claim basic welfare support, Hartz IV, as they cannot live off their wage.

There were also, the paper said, people with full-time jobs that were so badly paid that they had to supplement their income with Hartz IV. …

If you want a lavish life you don’t have to get busy with low paying job in Europe.
Grow a beard, go to a mosque and have eleven children to collect benefits.
You’ll have your Mercedes-Benz, IPhones etc and let all these working idiots who has nothing but health issues envy you.

Soooo, they’re paying into welfare while getting welfare? Why not just let them keep the money?

BTW, don’t adopt a min wage. Surprised they don’t have that. It’ll just result in more illegals.

Well, it’s the social market economy, so letting them keep their own money may not be in the elite politicians’ vocabulary.

The private sector produces the things the public sector wishes to redistribute.

The more the public sector steals in taxes, the fewer things that the public sector wishes to redistribute are produced.

It ain't rocket surgery.

The more money and good you fork over to the lazy, unwilling to work leftist trash, the less there is for those that are willing to earn a living.

Don’t feed the animals.

I agree with your sentiment, but only to the point where work is available. Nowadays the little work that is available in my area (northern NJ) requires Spanish or Portuguese as well as English; many Americans never learned those languages, and are shut out of many semi-skilled and unskilled jobs because of that.
