Another report by the private Pew Research Center...

Now THERE'S a real unbiased entity.

Reduction in homicides has nothing to do with the increase in CCW holders, huh?

>> Gun homicides have dropped steeply in the United States since their peak in 1993, a pair of reports released Tuesday showed, adding fuel to Congress’ battle over whether to tighten restrictions on firearms.

I see that the tactic of using simple statistical observations as support for whatever position the left is advancing — whether it makes sense to, or not — has broken out of the climate change sphere and found wider application.

These “progressives” live in a very special world that is light-years away from the real one.

gun-related homicides dropped from 18,253 in 1993 to 11,101 in 2011.

Wow! And the population went from what to 330,000,000?

And gun sales also skyrocketed during this timeframe.

No to any effing new gun laws!!!!!!!!!

The reason for the violent crime being down significantly from 20 years ago is because of what happened, almost exactly 20 years ago.

In that year, conservative Republicans became a SERIOUS political force at the grassroots (i.e., thanks to straight-ticket voting in 1994) and that meant a return to LAW and ORDER. In Texas, our crime rate was THROUGH THE ROOF, but Ann Richards, even though a Democrat, built a boatload of jails and we FINALLY started putting people away. Then crime plummeted. Similarly for New York City. But some places, Chicago and New Orleans come to mind, never got the word...so they keep springing felons and the felons keep killing and maiming.

Gun policy and gun ownership was incidental...didn’t help, but didn’t hurt. Where they REALLY MATTER is when the Dems get permanent control of government, and go back to emptying jails again - then you BETTER have a way to protect yourself. And that is just one Amnesty vote away.
