I understand that, but to tell the woman that they would send the police when a car became available is just wrong. She should have been a little more reassuring.
Agree with posts that the dispatcher was cold. I understand “protocol” too but you could hear the cry for help, for reassurance, for comfort....not wanting to let go of someone from the outside world.
The dispatcher might want to think about this for a bit and learn from it. What’s done is done, but it is too bad Amanda got this dispatcher. I’ve heard 911 replays before where the dispatchers are at least human.

He called 3 times and got no response.
The 4th time he called he told the dispatcher not to hurry about sending the cops he had just shot and killed the two burglars.
Within 30 seconds 5 police cars slid up to his door.
