... I was proud of almost all your New England senators, who listened to their constituents, and put safety over the big money of the gun lobby. But like so many Granite Staters, 89 percent of whom support expanded background checks, I was disappointed with Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who did not listen to her constituents and who alone in New England voted in lockstep with the NRA....
When I voted for health care reform, which was not at all popular among my constituents, I got a lot of angry calls about my vote for health care. I listened. I felt it was our best option to reverse a years-in-the-making crisis of health care costs and affordability...
I heard Sen. Ayotte, at her town hall last week, tell the daughter of murdered Sandy Hook Principal Dawn Hochsprung that she felt she could vote against the background checks bill because expanded background checks might not have prevented the Newtown shooting. But that's not the goal the policy was trying to solve....
I don't believe that political courage means voting lockstep with public opinion. Sometimes, if the evidence isn't there, you take a tough vote that you have to help the public come to understand.

SECOND, it is truly remarkable to hear a politician lecture people on how courageous it is to vote for expanded government powers.
THIRD, I submit that Gabrielle's APPARENT willingness to attack other politicians ought to make her subject to the same scrutiny as the people she attacks.
FOURTH, the admission that the Senate gun grabbing bill would NOT have prevented the senseless murder of the children at Sandy Hook is an incredible occurence--since it comes from a spokesperson for the left. But, the left's response to this truth echoes Hitlery's Benghazi testimony: "What difference does it make?"
This entire episode should wake up all of us: the fight for freedom continues.

So Gabby's example of ‘courage’ to attack Ayotte with is her (Gabby) vote FOR Obama-care at Pelosi’s direction even though her voters were against it.
Its a pretty stupid analogy you make Gabby, why didn't you stand up to Obama and Pelosi on the Obama-care vote?
Your liberal Profile in Courage award is obviously a profile in cowardice.
The purported author of the whole speech is Gabrielle Giffords.
GMTA.
Someone should ask her who the real author of this piece is.
“But like so many Granite Staters, 89 percent of whom support expanded background checks, I was disappointed with Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who did not listen to her constituents and who alone in New England voted in lockstep with the NRA....”
So, she voted against her constituents wishes. She didn’t listen.
“When I voted for health care reform, which was not at all popular among my constituents, I got a lot of angry calls about my vote for health care. I listened. I felt it was our best option to reverse a years-in-the-making crisis of health care costs and affordability...”
So, she voted against her constituents wishes. But, that’s okay, since she LISTENED.
See? Simple.
If only she had had armed security around her at that moment.
I do my best. :-)

‘But like so many Granite Staters, 89 percent of whom support expanded background checks...’
Bull.
Sh1t.
Some of us see the truth! ;-)

Giffords needs more rehab. She is unable to form sentences when she speaks how can she possibly do it in writing. either her husband Greg kelly wrote it or an Obamite did it for her.
I will never believe Gabby Giffords penned that article. She does nothing without the aid of her attention-seeking husband.
Regardless of who wrote it, my compassion bin for her is now empty. It’s time for her to STFU and go retire to do something productive with her life. It’ll be good for her.
The really important line in this is the “goal ... trying to solve” one.
She doesn’t just admit that the bill wouldn’t have stopped Newtown, she admits that Newtown is being cynically exploited and leveraged to push through different “goal(s)”.
That’s a pretty huge admission to make.
“When I voted for health care reform, which was not at all popular among my constituents, I got a lot of angry calls about my vote for health care. I listened.”
Actually, she refused to have ANY public meetings until we had multiple public protests. When she finally had them, she openly ignored her constituents - because to Gabby, it was ALWAYS about supporting the Democrat Party agenda!
In the end, she was what she still is - a party hack who does what she is told by her bosses in the Democrat Party.
bears repeating
