This map of Britain (at link) reveals the “work-shy” spots around the country where people claiming incapacity benefit claimants are actually fit enough to work.
The Government introduced tough new health tests for those who claimed to be too unwell to get back into employment two years ago. Since then, some 203,000 (30 percent) out of 700,000 receiving the old Incapacity Benefit were declared fit to find work.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said Birmingham had the biggest number of claimants capable of work. Of 14,640 claimants, 5,180 were fit. …

I feel certain that a high percentage of recipients of social security disability payments are fraudulent. I handled workers compensation insurance claims for an industrial plant for a number of years in addition to other hats of course, and it was always a battle to get them off WC and back on the job. Back injury claimants were the worst to handle especially when you knew they were working under the table jobs which proved they were OK to go.
Not too sure about that. We live in the middle of the good old United States and it seems as if everyone and their dog is on some sort of disability. Most of them tend to be white overweight males who somehow are able to hunt and fish despite their disabilities.
There seem to be ads all over the TV nowadays for disability claim lawyers. They are as prevalent and as bad as those for ambulance-chaser lawyers.
An OSHA-fraud type system needs to be implemented for disability claimants.
