A report by the Church of Scotland, published this week, denies any special privilege for the Jewish people in the land of Israel. The church, which in recent years has jettisoned its once philosemitic character, opened a wide rift with the Scottish Jewish community with the report. Among other controversial statements, the report argues that, “Christians should not be supporting any claims by Jews, or any other people, to an exclusive or even privileged divine right to possess particular territory.”
The report, titled “The inheritance of Abraham? A report on the ‘promised land’”, was prepared for the general assembly of the Church of Scotland, to be held in two weeks. It is the latest in a series of documents published over the last decade criticizing Zionism and the Christians that support it.

The Israeli army seems to disagree. Claims, rights, “international law”, blah, blah, blah. All of these come down to one true question: by hook or by crook, can you hold it?

What right do the Scots have to claim Scotland if this is true.
This isn’t new for the Church of Scotland. They have been trying to lay claim to the Holy Land for centuries. It has mostly been undercurrent stories made to prop up the credentials of their royal houses. This has popped up again in recent decades with moves for independence from the UK. Historians(sic) such as Sir Lawrence Gardner have dusted off these old legends and stories and have attempted to rewrite the history again to prop up their employers.
It makes for interesting reading if you go in with the assumption it is complete fiction. However, it is being sold as legitimate ‘hidden’ history.

I’m no Talmudic scholar but I’d be surprised if the Jews need Presbyterian concordance on such matters.
I don’t know that this is of the same stuff as (Sir?) Laurence Gardner’s “da Vinci Code” type of lunacy. This seems more like plain old leftwing lunacy of the Barack Obama variety.
A church contradicts the Bible at its own peril (and that of those it may so mislead). Whatever this church is now, it is distinctly not Christian.
He has a lot more than his Da Vinci Code type stuff. He is the ‘official historian of Scotland’ and has pretty much rewritten every part of history to suit his bosses.
Yikes. I was only familiar with him via his Jesus/MaryM having a baby stuff from all of the Dan Brown hoopla a few years ago. Who are his bosses? I wouldn’t think the Church of Scotland would go in for Jesus being married and having children.
Yeah that’s really it isn’t it? This has a similar flavor as the Aztlan types who want to claim AZ et al for native people.
The day an Incan Armored Division or Aztec fighter wing shows up, maybe then they’ll have something to say about it.
