SACRAMENTO, Calif.California may speed up the release of some inmates while allowing other inmates with a violent history to become firefighters, under a proposal to cut crowding in state prisons filed by Gov. Jerry Brown late Thursday night. Brown filed the plan "under protest," said Corrections Secretary Jeffrey Beard. Brown warned that the options he presented to the court would undermine public safety, and Beard reiterated that the state plans to appeal in an attempt to avoid going through with the measures.
The governor's plan calls for increasing early release credits for inmates and paroling elderly and incapacitated prisoners, while slowing the return of thousands of inmates who are being held in private prisons in other states.

States: “Help Us, Criminal Illegals Swamp Budgets, Prisons”
The General Accounting Office estimates that as of 2009 there were currently about 350,000 criminal aliens in U.S. prisons, the majority from Mexico. At $30,000 per year, per inmate, thats $11 billion annually, with most of the costs born by the states.
While not all of the criminal aliens are here illegally, criminal illegals are putting a strain on budgets, especially in the states with large illegal immigration populations such as Arizona, Colorado, California, Florida, New York, and Texas.
Not coincidentally, many of those same states are facing the largest budget shortfalls for fiscal year 2011 and 2012, including New York and California. Some estimate state budget shortfalls of over $100 billion in 2012 across state governments in the U.S.
In California, its estimated that prisoners who are illegal immigrants cost the state at least $1 billion per year just to keep them in prison.
amnesty should help. /sarc

The new firefighters can now rape and pillage, murder the owners, start a fire and then put it out all at the same time. If they go back to prison and are released again they train them to be cops the second time around.
Calif. may speed inmate releases to ease crowding

Kinda' gives all the law abiding citizens of California a warm and fuzzy feeling, huh? What could possibly go wrong?
Is there any realistic solution to the prison over-crowding problem?
Executions?
What about the non-capital offenders or those that are sentenced to less than life?
The ONE obligation of states is to keep the public safe. They can’t carry out that requirement because they are up to their eyeballs in debt because of fat pensions for public employees and generous vote-buying schemes for the freebie addicts that vote them into power.
Deportations...executions...? There are solutions but very little will to implement.
What could possibly go wrong?
Where do you deport US citizens to? What about the non-capital offenders?
Air Force touch-and-go practice with C-130s:
Load up the illegals , give them an MRE and bottled water.
Touch-and-go in southern most South America.
“C-ya, bye.good luck.”
And stop mandatory 3 strikes laws for minor offenses.
Curtail the ‘war on drugs’.
Execute murderers in 3-5 years instead of 20-30 years. (but only with DNA proof)
there’s my plan.
Except for the plane part, sounds realistic
A Devil’s Island equivalent.
Call ‘em terrorists and send them to Cuba
Laws what laws we don’t need any stinking laws it California.
Gov. Jerry Brown logic.
