HPD: Man with AR-15 shoots himself at Bush Intercontinental Airport

HPD tells KHOU 11 News the shooting was self-inflicted and happened near a security checkpoint inside Terminal B.

There are no other reports of injuries.

KHOU 11’s Sherry Williams is on the scene and reports at least one ambulance is on the scene. She counted at least a dozen HPD squad cars.

I’m hearing that he walked up to the security checkpoint and fired the AR-15 into the air a couple of times. An air marshal fired at him and missed, then the perp pulled out another pistol and shot himself. Ambulance there, he may still be alive?

Hubby just left about an hour ago to help set up for the NRA convention. He does the check-in to inspect any guns that are brought in for the booths, etc. I’ve been telling him for the last couple of days to watch out for someone trying to disrupt the convention, that some anti-gun nut was going to try and make news.

It’s a good thing that the guy was the only one hurt. It should be interesting to find out about the guy’s background.
