This notion of insisting that everybody “run for office” is non-conservative on its face.

Its a false premise but would you care to explain your reasoning?

As conservatives, we should believe that the country runs outisde of government, and we should de-emphasize government.

So while of course we need those in government who also believe that, we should not rush to assume that government work is the only way to be effective. And yet, many do, wanting Ben Carson to run one hour after they hear about him, always looking for Palin’s next political office, some insisting that Rush or Beck or Levin run for office - etc. It’s a trend I see with too many conservatives, and it’s disconcerting and frankly, NOT conservative.
