Mil Reservations are considered as US soil. That is not defined in the Constitution, but is understood.

If that were true then if a Japanese woman, for example, gave birth on a U.S. military base then her child would be a U.S. citizen. U.S. bases on foreign soil are not U.S. territory. A child born on them gets his or her U.S. citizenship through the parents and not the location.

If there is evidence of his father having US citizenship at the time of Ted’s birth, then this might be a grey area.

**************

Everything I’ve seen indicates Cruz’s father became a citizen in 2005.

snip
Cruz brags about how his Cuban father fought with rebels supporting Fidel Castro against dictator Fulgencio Batista in the 1950s, before Castro announced that he was a communist. Rafael Cruz fled the country and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, then moved to Canada to work in the oil fields near Alberta, where Ted Cruz was born. The family eventually moved to Houston, and his father became a U.S. citizen in 2005.

No I agree with you.
I’m just talking about how the system has decided to deal with the issue.
They aren’t going to change.

He and Palin are the only two qualified as of now. I would fight for either or both of them!

Don’t mean to burst any bubble, but “understood” = assume and assume will make an ass out of u and me.

Not being any Constitutional authority, I have read lots of what others, who are, have to say regarding NBC and frankly NBC is like a bottomless pit, lots of questions and assumptions, but very few answers.

From those scholars, it sounds like Cruz is NBC simply because of “one US Citizen parent” regardless of birth location.

Until I had read what smarter folks had to say on NBC, I too thought Ted was not eligible. Now that its been explained somewhat, I think he very well could be and don’t see any Constitutional path to prove otherwise. Wish I had saved that info, but it was on FR, somewhere.

Cruz has been studying and arguing the Constitution since he was a kid, if anyone could straighten out our messes from a Constitutional standpoint, he could. I also think the man has enough integrity to not try to trick the NBC issue. That’s why I will support him 100%.

9) Cruz allies laugh at the idea that Canadian birth will be a prob. Say he's brilliant atty, knows how to explain how he's "natural born"— Robert Costa (@robertcostaNRO) May 1, 2013

The conservative base is searching for potential conservative candidates at most every level, including President. To decide to run for high office takes planning, sound judgments during his time as Senator, It is necessary to put together excellent campaign workers. It all takes time and experience. Of which his experience needs to develop for a few years. Maybe at the end of his six year Senator position . Sarah had /has more experience in the politics of government.

Hope springs eternal ... our LORD knows how much evil is afoot in America. The people that say we are believers, and Christians must stand up and reject the Abortion on demand. God has removed his hand of protection from America due to the falling away of our values and beliefs. We are hearing feel good messages at church and very little substance about what we are to do as Christians. Being obedient to God's commands. Jesus’ commands. We are turning away from truth. We serve a merciful God. When we repent in truth, he will hear and forgive us and heal our land.

God is the answer. Love the LORD God with all thy heart, soul, mind, and spirit, in Jesus name, amen.

If America can no longer produce intelligent conservatives, then I’ll take one from somewhere else.

I'd crawl across broken glass...in the desert...and give up 50% of my net worth...for the opportunity to vote for Benjamin Netanyahu for POTUS.

Since that's not going to happen, I'm sure happy to keep my eye on Sen Cruz for the next 2 years. If he can survive living in D.C., with the constant seduction and brow-beating from his Senate "colleagues", such as McCrazy, and still advocate so consistently for conservative principles, I won't care if Sen Cruz was born on Mars.

The links sure seem to show the left being now “birthers”.
Whereas the right is wanting clarification, with some like Briebart seeing it as clearly Cruz is NBC.

“No court has ruled what makes a “natural-born citizen,” but there appears to be a consensus that the term refers to those who gain American citizenship by birth rather than by naturalization — again, including Texas’s junior senator.” Therein lies the issue, that there is no defining authority on NBC. It obviously was never needed prior to nobama, because those who wanted to be candidates and who did not 100% meet NBC, were honest enough and didn’t force it as did nobama.

I think this is a subject to never be proven if the question of NBC is in a grey area, even by a stretch. One side or the other will always give them the benefit of the doubt.

Historical proof of one’s character should rule in those NBC grey area questions. With nobama, the left opted for “the end justifies the means”. I do not see the Right doing that.

Me too, I have a lot of respect for Mr. Netanyahu.

In terms of where a person was born qualifying them for potus, almost every in the republican party was born here, and I don’t want any of them. Same for the democrat party.

Far as I can see, those born here don’t appreciate or understand a damn thing.

If I have to look elsewhere for a leader who understand and believes in freedom and the fortitude necessary to maintain freedom, then I have to look elsewhere.

There are no "smarter folks" on NBC. They are a propaganda agency.

Not “that” NBC, silly you. But you are correct also.

Only have NBC network on for local weather at 10:15 and Jay’s monolog. After that, back to Backyard Oil.......

It has been a while since I researched and read the specific cases which expanded on natural born citizen status. The wording is easily misconstrued, but is clear in the 2 cases that pertain.

Past that it is clear from the actions of President Arthur that he knew he was not qualified under the Constitution to be President, because his father was a Canadian citizen at the time of his birth. He lied and hid all trace of his birth records to prevent this being an issue.

It is clear that this was understood at the time. There has been no court cases since then that changed that.

“Not being any Constitutional authority, I have read lots of what others, who are, have to say regarding NBC and frankly NBC is like a bottomless pit, lots of questions and assumptions, but very few answers.”

I, likewise, am not a Constitutional authority. However, while this natural born Citizen subject seems complicated, if you look at it through the eyes of natural law, it really isn’t. A child born in a country to parents who are citizens of that country CANNOT be anything but a natural born Citizen.

When you start adding in parents from other countries or birth in another country, you get away from natural law and into manmade law. A country has to legally define who is a citizen and what processes you need to go through to document their citzenship.

There has been some horrible case law on this subject, not to mention a bunch of gymnastic interpretations to try to clarify who is a citizen and who isn’t. If you’re born in the country to two citizen parents, no law or interpretation is needed.

If a man is born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father, that child is not only an American citizen by manmade law, but also a Cuban citizen. Dual (or tri*) citizen - dual (or tri) allegiance. (*He may also be a citizen of Canada, depending on whether they have birthright citizenhsip or not.)

Ted Cruz, Mario Rubio, Nikki Haley, Bobby Jindal, while all nice people, are American citizens by manmade law. If you’re looking for someone to guide your country and military who has no allegiance to another country, these people don’t fit. If their parents got them passports to their home countries (India and Cuba) when they were born, like Ted Cruz’s mother did to America, unless they have renounced their Indian or Cuban citizenship, they may be able to go back to their parent’s (father’s) country and run for office there. Don’t know that they could, but these are things you can run into with dual citizens. A natural born citizen can’t do that.

I’m very interested to hear Ted Cruz explain how he is eligible to become President.

Don’t we have any Americans, born in America to Americans, who can do this job properly?

Cruz is Natural Born Citizen since his mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth.

So was the mother of Aldo Mario Bellei, but that didn't stop him from LOSING his citizenship because he WAS NOT a "natural born citizen."

Neither is Cruz. I like him, but sorry, it doesn't work that way.

I have been a rabid birther forever but if they let Rubio run they have to let Cruz run. At this point in the destruction of America I am only concerned about getting the right person in the Whitehouse in 2016. So far only Cruz has been on the right side of every issue.

And this is a legitimate argument. It is obvious that no one cares about the correct meaning of article II, although I think if we ran Cruz, the Democrats might very well make an issue of it.
