Social Injustice: Turns out conservative crusader Andrew Breitbart was correct when he exposed a multibillion-dollar redistribution scheme to African-American farmers based on largely dubious claims of discrimination.
If there's a patron saint for government watchdogs, it's Breitbart, who was well into exposing at the time of his early death one of the most egregious examples of wealth redistribution in the name of social justice: the Pigford case.
A handful of black farmers who arguably were discriminated against in their dealings with the Agriculture Department were exploited by a racial grievance industry empowered by a government and a president out to fundamentally transform America.
Outside Breitbart and his Big Government website, only a handful of outlets, among them IBD, pursued the story. Late to the story, but welcome, comes the New York Times with an analysis that Breitbart was right, that Pigford became not a redress of legitimate grievances but a "a runaway train, driven by racial politics, pressure from influential members of Congress and law firms that stand to gain more than $130 million in fees."
The original Pigford settlement arose out of a 1997 class action lawsuit by Timothy Pigford and 400 Southern black farmers. They had apparently legitimate claims of discrimination against the USDA in its allocation of farm loans from 1983 to 1987.
In 2007, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, where 0.0012% of farms are operated primarily by blacks, began working to pass legislation providing even more money for new classes of claimants via Pigford II. These now included Hispanic and female farmers as well as American Indians and expanded by a decade the time that claims could be filed.
As president, he signed this bill in 2010.

Pigford moves into exhibit A that the Obama Government is nothing but a criminal enterprise, by design, and application.
amen brother
It was never anything but a wealth redistribution/money grab.
Dead right.
The entirety of the Federal Government is nothing but a criminal enterprise, by design, and application.
There were hundreds of blacks from Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi that got government compensation for being a black farmer with a few potted plants. This was a major scam that was hoisted upon the taxpayer.
“This was a major scam that was hoisted upon the taxpayer.”
These stories won’t go anywhere as long as an increasing number of whites leave the taxpaying class and join the parasites; it isn’t their money, so what do they care? In the past, our socioeconomic model was a sphere, with smaller numbers at the very top and very bottom, and the majority in between. The Dems are putting themselves in power for the foreseeable future with the new triangle model (presented by Communists in academia for decades, now coming to fruition) - a small wealthy elite, a slightly larger middle class, and a wide base of “poor”. Those people on the bottom can (and did) vote themselves everything at the expense of the other two groups.
Get used to it: we are Cuba.
Huey Long taught the dems well.
While almost everyone’s “Uncle Ed” has a cushy job with local gubmit, Ol Huey was skimming to beat the band. Not many said anything because they had someone in the family in on the mini-graft.
While pigford is paying our millions to many in Holder’s world, nobama’s friends like soros are skimming billions. Not many are saying anything because they are getting an easy SSI, welfare, food stamps, free phone and never ending unemployment.
So what?
Stupid white Americans tripping over each other to hand out money, right?
Don’t be so stupid you don’t take it, and scream you got shortchanged - the idiots may do it again.
sorry this is just another one of those things Obama knows nothing about , the things Obama knows anything about are ,hmmm , ah , ok ,give me a minute
