Boston victims face huge bills; donations pour in

Cost of amputating a leg? At least $20,000. Cost of an artificial leg? More than $50,000 for the most high-tech models. Cost of an amputee's rehab? Often tens of thousands of dollars more.

These are just a fraction of the medical expenses victims of the Boston Marathon bombing will face.

The mammoth price tag is probably not what patients are focusing on as they begin the long healing process. But friends and strangers are already setting up fundraisers and online crowd-funding sites, and a huge Boston city fund has already collected more than $23 million in individual and corporate donations.

No one knows yet if those donations — plus health insurance, hospital charity funds and other sources — will be enough to cover the bills. Few will even hazard a guess as to what the total medical bill will be for a tragedy that killed three people and wounded more than 270. At least 15 people lost limbs, and other wounds include head injuries and tissue torn apart by shrapnel.

Not only did we pay for the welfare benefits of those two idiots but they are costing us tens of millions in medical fees (to those kind enough to donate) and probably tens of millions in legal fees to come. That's just scratching the surface of the human misery and we're not even done with the hundreds of bigger and grander Islamic terror attacks to come in the near future!

$50 million now and probably a billion dollars later just to pay for our own misery. Courtesy of Obama

And it all could have been prevented by rational immigration policies.

What happened to Obamacare? We were paying medical, welfare, foodstamps and Allah knows what else for the “alleged” terrorists and their kith and kin, but now we economize with their victims? F***ing Obama!

Obamacare is for Holder's people only. I.e terrorists, murderers, rapists, etc

The victims of the bombing were too innocent to qualify. Praise be to Allah, to the prophet, and to the servant Obama (pbuh)!

And why are these costs not being covered by the government as the failures of government led to the injuries? Are we not at war with terror? Are not our soldiers cared for at government expense when in in service to their country? Are these citizens any less deserving because the service they provide is the enablement of our government to pursue the so-called “War On Terror”!The government failed them, we failed them by supposing the government provided security when it did not and continues to not provide it and allow false promises and empty rhetoric from the likes of Janet Napolitano, et al, to lull the public into a sense of false security and disarmament.

Why not pay for their rehabilitation from public funds? That payment would better serve the interests of this nation than grants to study “duck sex” or any of the other frivolous purposes our leaders are addressing with tax dollars.

What say you?

The government won't pay for the treatments because they are secretly pleased with the results.

Americans are too stupid to realize that we have closet Jihadists running the country and faking sympathy.

They can bring a lawsuit against hundreds of al-Qaeda financial backers like the 9-11 survivors, although I don’t think the Boston victims will be able to get anything from event organizers considering the enormous level of security that was apparently in place.

I'm always leary about such "fund raisers" since no one really knows where the money goes. In other words, who's skimming from the pot.........

I’m not from Missouri but I did live a stones throw away for a time. Show me. For as surely as the grass grows and the water flows I fail to see what you say taking place. Even when viewed through any or all three of the trifocal lenses I wear or the depth of the intellectual analyses I perform I fail to see what you have said taking place. Evil is in ascension.

It’s time to sieze the assets of Muslims in order to pay for “reparations” to these victims.
