The British government says former Prime Minister Margaret Thatchers funeral cost taxpayers £3.6 million ($5.6 million), mostly for security.
Prime Minister David Camerons office said Thursday that Thatchers family was paying the cost of the undertaker and flowers for the funeral.

...or as much as ONE MOOshelle Obama vacation.......
That's right AP, piss on her grave right up until the end.
And Thatcher’s life saved the UK BILLIONS!
I’d much rather give $5.6 million to security personnel than to the kind of people who make the security necessary.
Instead of saying, “It’s awful they spent that much money,” Brits should be saying, “It’s awful that our population includes so many rotten people.”
Good. At lest it wasn’t spent on welfare and NHS.
How many BILLIONS in taxes did she save them?
$400 Million USD to bury President Reagan. *SNIF*
$5 Million Pounds to bury Princess Diana.
$9 Million Euros for Pope John Paul II
$40 Million USD for JFK
$600 Million USD (in today’s dollars) for Alexander the Great
Or roughly one ten thousandth of how much more they'd be paying in taxes right now had she not been Prime Minister.
She saved your asses and all that you are... show a little appreciation... you muzzie loving communist ingrates (for the left of Britain only).
” Instead of saying, Its awful they spent that much money, Brits should be saying, Its awful that our population includes so many rotten people.”
AP finally aknowleges Thatcher’s funeral.
We shouldn’t have to make such a choice, of course.
no big deal
that’s just the cost of a couple nights in Paris hotels for VP Biden, or another fancy resort vacation for his boss
Ingrates...idiots...Stay classy "Some Britons".
Is that correct - "Britons" ?
I guarantee that kind of security won’t be necessary for Bill Clinton’s funeral. Conservatives won’t have any interest in disrupting it.
The money went to honor a hero of the UK. I wasn’t thrown down the the toilets of NHS and social welfare.
Do you think she wanted that much spent on her, or to help those in need?
I would give a 100 times that to have someone with her courage, strength, wisdom, and fortitude in our white house right now. Someone that at least loves our country.
You mean to subsidize the lifestyles of the lame, lazy, weak, stupid and perverted?
If anything, she’d rather it be given back to the taxpayers, but that was never an option in your mind or the government’s, was it?
He11, that doesn't even cover one of the obamabillies vacations.
No to help those that need it
Yeah. That has worked so well, that entire generations have been raised on the dole.
There are many legitimate recipients of welfare and NHS
I don’t care anymore. All the dole and NHS does is make poverty comfortable for the deserving and undeserving alike, and transfer money from people who have earned it to people who have not, while bureaucrats take a healthy cut.
Worse yet, most doleists actually seem to believe they DESERVE the money.
Nope. If it can’t go back to the taxpayers, it was better spent of Dame Thatcher’s funeral.
That’s just not true.
People that are deserving of help, should not be allowed comfort?
Their need does not create an obligation on the part of others. Why should the productive be the slaves of the lame and the lazy?
And no. If you are living on charity, comfort should not be a consideration at all.
I believe the needs of some, do create an obligation on the part of others.
I do not.
Charity is one thing. I am charitable and will help folks. I kept one man in his house at considerable expense until he recovered from the tragedy that had befallen him. No so much as a good deal as my wife and I trying be good Christians.
But they better not think for a second I owe them a darn thing.
Same goes for others. Their needs do not create an obligation for me. And government transfers are not charity. Worse, they seem to go some of the vilest individuals.
So I think you are completely and absurdly wrong.
