An off-duty US navy sailor wrestled a bus driver to the ground and beat him into submission after he attempted to rape her at knife point, a court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors said that she knocked the knife from his hand, broke it in two, bit him in the hand, forced him to the ground and locked him between her thighs.
The woman, 28, was on 24-hour shore leave in Dubai and was attacked as she returned to the port where she was based after a day shopping....

Dubai does not have sharia law. Lighten up, people, and just be proud of one of our awesome servicewomen.
That she was a woman would be cause enough to haul her in for these muslim freaks. That she’s American would be exactly what they’d want to do.

Thanks for posting, Albion. It made me proud of her. She did the right thing in reporting the incident to her commander. My son is in the Navy and has been to Dubai. He said it is an amazing place. It is more open than most Moslem countries.
My thoughts exactly. She let her commander have her back with the local authorities -- sounds like both took her seriously, which doesn't always happen. That alone made this newsworthy.
Many of the posters seem to have missed the news that she was not raped due to her own courage, and that the LEOs gathered incriminating evidence in their own interests, such as finding him drunk, that will allow them to save face.
My son is in the Navy and has been to Dubai. He said it is an amazing place. It is more open than most Moslem countries.
They do seem to be courting tourism. A lot of wealthy Europeans still go there. Hope they can remain the Hong Kong of the Middle East.
