Irish borrowers struggling to meet their loan repayments may be banned from taking vacations and face limits on how much they can spend on food under guidelines published by the country’s personal insolvency service.
Monthly individual living expenses for people seeking debt relief may be capped at 35.73 euros ($46.7) for clothing, 247.04 euros for food and 33.40 euros for personal-hygiene items, the Insolvency Service of Ireland said in Dublin today. Households in towns with “adequate public transport links” may not need a car, while private health insurance may also be banned, the ISI said.
The guidelines set a “standard of living that is based on needs, not wants, but it is more than survival and allows for meaningful participation in society,” the ISI said. “It should not be regarded as a standard of living for people in poverty.”

The fact is cutting back and taking any job avaiable does work.....you take ‘whatever job you can get’...and you work it until you can change the equation to something more favorable.
I even sold my furniture in the front yard to meet my obligations....you do what you have to do...that’s just the bottom line.
My adult son lost his job, third tier in a national organization....never saw it coming....within a short time he decided ‘time to go to work’....’pumped gas at a local gas station’...and hated it! But he did it until he found suitable employment for his skills.
I never said you only cut back, you do that AND take whatever job you can find.
When I was working no brainer jobs to make ends meet...and believe me I know how to enjoy rice and gravey!...On pay day I bought a dollar package of miniture candy bars as reminder I still had it good ...and to encourage me that better days are coming...and they did!
You play all kinds of head games to mentally stay the course until on the other side.
If someone thinks they have it really bad....go visit a cancer hosptial, or visit the veterans hospital. Puts things in perspective.
My granddaughter lost her job and her car in one swoop....she moaned and groaned about not finding work in her field and not having any money to do anything with. She asked me what I would do...I told her to apply at everyplace within walking distance from her home....which were few at best. Explaining that the goal was to get cash flowing first.....
I was so proud of her...she went to the Golf Club that very week and was hired that day....banquet waitressing. So she’s now saving for a car.
The problem is that people are unwilling to lower their standard of living...and do the hard work to get themself back on their feet.
Wow. Sounds like one giant poorhouse over there!
Now if only we could apply the same standards to the bankers...
