Public gets chance to comment on TSA's full-body scanners
Los Angeles Times ^ | April 21, 2013 | Hugo Martin

In response to a lawsuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia circuit ...

ordered the TSA to give the public a 90-day comment period, which the agency did not do when it launched the scanning program.

The TSA began the comment period online in March, and so far it has been getting an average of 26 comments a day — nearly all of which blast the TSA and the scanners for a variety of reasons ....

To add your comments, visit www.regulations.gov and type in the case code TSA-2013-0004.

TSA lost a lawsuit and is now under court order to give the public a 90 day comment period regarding their screening. The law apparently says they were supposed to do this when they introduced the scanners. Oh well. At least they're getting around to following the law now, after all these years and a court order.

That’ll get you on the grope list at best and the “no fly” list at worst.

Main reason I quit flying! If I can’t drive there, I won’t go there. I’ve visited all of the foreign countries I ever wanted to visit, so I’m good for staying here.

Where’s the “punishment”, the disincentive for not having done it right on their own? If the court order amounts to “go back and do what you were supposed to do in the first place”, what’s the point?

What will? Leaving a critical comment? I'll just sign it "Joe Biden"!

Lightman,

When a people fear their government, that is tyranny

When a government fears the people, that is liberty.

Send in your comments to those miscreants!

Basil,

I do the same; I drive 1500 miles one way to visit family.

Diogenesis,

There’s talk of cancer being found in the screener-minders, the tsa folks that have to stand next to the scanners for 8 hrs a day.

Was a major factor in our decision to not fly somewhere this summer on a vacation.

Why spend a fortune to travel and then get sexually molested by some perv at the airport.

We will never fly again if we have a choice. The only way I might fly again is if my job required it. Highly unlikely these days.

Good riddance.

It is an illegal search. I do not subject myself to illegal searches. The have done nothing for flight safety, and the best definition I've seen of TSA is Thousands Standing Around. If airlines wish to subject their passengers to strip searches, that's a business decision. But when you put it into the hands of federal authorities, you are subjecting yourself to inspections that would be banned in a supermax prison.

Yet we line up, our shoes and belts in our hands, to offer them upon the altar of TSA inspection, and then enter into a box and raise our hands above our heads in surrender of our liberties, hopeful that unlike the TSA when facing any form of a test, our pants don't fall down to our ankles.

And every time a terrorist sees a picture of an American standing in one of them, they must praise Allah for their victory.

Well now I’m on their doo-doo list. I’ll see how my next groping session goes.

Same here. I just got back from Israel today. So I've visited all the countries I need to visit. I'll drive any time I want to go to another state.

My last flight was in October 2000. There will never be another one.

If you follow the link, comments posted to the Court are quite good. Many passengers have articulated what we all feel, i.e. oppression in the airports for no good reason by our government. Interesting read.
