Outrage as student who raped at US college was punished by being made to write five-page book report
37 Women filed a complaint against Occidental College saying officials mishandled their reports of rape or sexual abuse while students on the campus
Women say the exclusive college is indifferent to rape victims and hands out 'light' punishments to perpetrators
The school says it has implemented reforms and is calling in consultants
Sex crimes at a prestigious Los Angeles school, including rapes and sexual assaults were covered up and not taken seriously by the college's staff.
On one occasion a student who was found responsible for raping a woman was given the punishment of writing a five-page book report.
The federal complaint, which runs to 250 pages, against the Female Occidental College states that the school maintained a hostile environment when it came to sexual assault victims.
Attorney Gloria Allred said the complaint outlines violations of Title IX, which bars sex discrimination at schools.
A group 37 women associated with the school consisting of both past and present students along with some professors, signed the complaint on Thursday.
It has since been filed with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights.
They allege the college discouraged the reporting of sex crimes, proceeding with criminal action against the perpetrators and covered up rapes.
In the complaint, Allred alleges that 37 students were 'raped, sexually assaulted, battered, harassed or retaliated against for speaking out against sexual violence.'

Doesn’t Alma Mater indicate that someone graduated with a degree?
Not sure ... but he is listed as Notable alumni here at:

” Accidental” College is not a highly rated institution.
Typically, although people use it to indicate anyone who ever took classes these days.
Why would the college even be involved. Are colleges allowed to act as criminal courts now?
Anything Gloria Allred is for I’m highly suspect of. She’s a grifting uber leftist dirt bag.
Feminists and the U.S. Department of Education have long been pushing colleges and universities to handle rape accusations under their student conduct policies, where those accused have no due process rights.
Rape allegations handled under those institutions are often never even reported to the police.
Sounds phony. If a criminal event occurred, then police would be involved. If proven guilty, the perps would be doing time, not writing book reports.
So I suspect the truth is being stretched here.
Well...a five page report can be a daunting, anguishing, agonizing task, for your average college student today, let alone one who is also an accomplished rapist, and doubts he deserves such severe punishment. /s
Who reports a rape to a the campus?
Why were the police not called? Who gets raped and thinks, “Lord, I better get ahold of my RA and college administration.”
Something stinks here.
This is why many colleges are moving to have their own police forces, so they can bury the victims under the rug.
Exactly. This report makes no sense. The laws against rape are not set by schools. Any confirmed rapist should have their sex organs removed in a sane world.
If he drew a picture of a gun with crayons or wore an NRA T-shirt, he’d be escorted off the property and told to not come back.
Looks like trouble has come to Fiji Hill.
You must be a Pomona Sage Hen or a Whittier College Poet.
Nah...Billy Bob & Mary : )
