Fact Check: Marco Rubio Distorts His Bill During Rush Limbaugh Interview

If the Senate is going to pass the Gang of Eight's amnesty bill in the 113th Congress, they're going to need Marco Rubio to sell it to his Republican colleagues. After the bill's introduction yesterday morning, Rubio began his sales pitch last night by appearing on Mark Levin's radio program. But the big sell came today when he tried to convince Rush Limbaugh. Unfortunately for Rubio, Limbaugh didn't bite even with his distorted details.

Yesterday, Rubio's staff began an aggressive campaign to dispel any myths that were circulating in the mainstream media. Given his staff's attention to the details of the bill, we thought we should return the favor by providing the same kind of scrutiny to his defense of the bill to Rush Limbaugh. Here's what we found...

For starters, Rubio did an about-face from an earlier appearance on Limbaugh's program. On January 29, 2013, he said:

If, in fact, this bill does not have real triggers in there, if there is not language in this bill that guarantees that nothing else will happen unless these enforcement mechanisms are in place, I won't support it.

Now that the bill's out, we know that it legalizes most of the 11-18 million illegal aliens before any enforcement provisions kick in. Rubio didn't deny it.

We don't want to wait on legalizing, and I'll tell you why, and my original position was that we wanted to secure the border first and then legalize. The problem is we have millions of people here now, by some estimates 10, 11 million. We want to know who they are and freeze the problem in place. I don't want that number to grow.

A fence should be required to be completed before any amnesty discussion starts. With no fence, you can’t enforce any rules because they can just stroll across the border again. Rubio is insane

Rubio is a sympathetic person and member of Congress. His heart and mind are in the the right place....BUT IN THE WRONG TIME.

Sure something must be done according to Rubio’s passions....BUT NOT NOW.

I wouldn’t mind seeing an America in my lifetime where we had open borders with Canada and Mexico but not before so many other things must be resolved....LIKELY NOT IN OUR LIFETIME.

Rush was, as usual, right in his interview with Rubio. He pointed out a fact that Rubio could not deal with, that the last immigration amnesty resulted in losing California to the democrats. An amnesty now will result in LOSING AMERICA.

Until we have control of our voting process for citizens, until we can distinguish between who and who are not eligible for our social safety nets, until we have a government that is ready, willing and able to enforce common sense provisions of law, new proposals to deal with illegal residents are OFF THE TABLE for Republicans.

One thing that Rubio was right about that NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW, is the chain immigration provision of Teddy Kennedy’s folly. But that will need to wait until the GOP controls the Senate with CONSERVATIVE SENATORS.

So get busy Marco and help Sarah and others ELECT TEA PARTY APPROVED SENATORS IN 2014. That’s the priority.

So, the illegals will not be a part of the Obama healthcare system.....what a gift to the law breakers! No fines like the American taxpayers will be forced to pay.

The illegals will CONTINUE to receive FREE (taxpayer funded) healthcare, FREE housing and FREE food stamps, are we to believe the government will deny any of these things to them? They will be guaranteed free EVERYTHING for 13 years, then what, will they deport them? The answer is NO!

None of these freebees will cost the illegals a penny. Are we to believe that all of the illegals will SUDDENLY decide to acquire gainful employment and pay their fair share...NOTHING BUT LIES.
