US Drug Czar Toes Strict Line on Marijuana
Big Government ^ | April 17, 2013 | Breitbart

President Barack Obama's drug czar toed a strict line on marijuana Wednesday, saying federal laws will prevail regardless of state-level efforts to legalize pot.

Gil Kerlikowske said enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 -- which ranks marijuana as a Schedule One drug alongside heroin, LSD and ecstasy -- remains in the hands of the US Department of Justice.

"No state, no executive can nullify a statute that has been passed by Congress," the director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy told a National Press Club luncheon.

"Let's be clear: law enforcement officers take an oath of office to uphold federal law and they are going to continue to pursue drug traffickers and drug dealers," he said.

Voters in Colorado and Washington last November approved proposals to legalize the possession of small quantities of marijuana by individuals in their respective states.

Earlier this month, a Pew Research Center opinion poll indicated that for the first time in more than four decades of polling on the issue, a majority of Americans -- 52 percent -- think marijuana should be legalized.

Several states have approved the medical use of marijuana with a doctor's prescription, and the first marijuana clinic in the nation's capital, just up the street from the Capitol, is near opening its doors.

New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo is meanwhile pressing his state's legislature to decriminalize the possession in public view of less than 15 grams of marijuana.

But to the dismay of pot campaigners, many of whom voted to re-elect the Democratic president, the Obama administration has maintained its predecessors' tough stance on marijuana as part of a broader, never-ending "war on drugs."

"No state, no executive can nullify a statute that has been passed by Congress,"

Well, maybe not so much where undocumented Democrats are concerned.

...and they’re doing such a fine job of enforcing immigration laws.

Dear Mr. Czar, I’ll ignore any law I choose to ignore, just like your boss does. He is no better than any of us.

Wow! An Obama administration official actually enforcing a Federal law. Doubt there will be any actual enforcement but very unusual sentiments to be heard from the Left. Next you will see Janet Napolitano scold all those elected officials who have made their jurisdictions turned their cities into “sanctuaries” making a mockery of Federal immigration law. Nah.

Since you all disapprove of the “war on drugs,” can you name three good things about potheads? Can you name even one?

If you cannot, then maybe there is a benefit to society of reducing the amount of people addicted to pot.

They should have shot Wickard, and sent Filburn to Congress.

I can tell you of tens of thousands of citizens who have had their property confiscated under the mere SUSPICION that the owner MIGHT be doing something illegal involving drugs.

I can tell you of many innocent citizens whe were murdered by paramilitary SWAT teams raiding the wrong house.

I can tell you of thousands of laws that rob your freedoms so that the government can try to catch Joe Pothead smoking a doobie.

I can tell you of the origins of the WOD back in the early days of the Wilson administration where southern DemocRats invented stories of black men “smoking cocaine” and raping white women in order to fill their prison=plantation with black men.

Need more?

Can you name three good things about alcohol and alcoholics? Can you name even one?

Maybe it would be a benefit to society to reduce the number of people addicted to beer, whiskey, vodka, brandy, etc.

Can you imagine a world without alcohol-related traffic accidents, alcohol-related violence, alcohol-related illnesses and deaths?

Well let's just scratch out this worthless little bit of eighteenth century writing.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The Tenth Amendment leaves this to the states. How do you justify pissing on the Constitution?

If there was just one State that had a Real Governor that fully understood their true Power under our Constitution, and had the intestinal fortitude to use that power, they would Start by Arresting all the Persons Claiming to be Federal Agents performing Official Federal Law Enforcement activities. There are ONLY 3 CRIMES LISTED IN THE US CONSTITUTION, and they are the ONLY 3 That the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT truly has the authority to Prosecute, Under our Constitution.

Comrade, there is "a benefit to society" in reducing obesity - so I'm sure you'll support a federal law rolling you out of bed at 6am for a brisk 45-minute run.
