This kid is going to own the NY Post after he sues them.
Speak of the devil . . . within the past few minutes, the Post has replaced on their website the story that ran on the front page of this morning's print editon with a new story that indicates that, yes, the two men have been "cleared" by authorities.
I didn't get the impression from scanning this new Post story, however, that the paper acknowledges that this fact could have been ascertained by the Post had it sought to do so before running this morning's print edition.
Of course, that the Post is a joke of a "newspaper" is not itself news.
“This kid is going to own the NY Post after he sues them.”
He will not own the paper, but the New York Post will be writing him a big check, a check so large the the kid will not have to work a day in his life.
"Feds Seek These Two Pictured at Boston Marathon"
That statement appears to be factual and not defamatory. There is no basis for a suit.
To be defamatory, the statement needs to be false. The Post did not allege that these guys ARE the bombers, they reported that investigators were seeking to speak to them in connection with the bombing.
An example of real defamation engaged in by the media is probably going to be the George Zimmerman case.
News media reported flatly that Zimmerman was a "vigilante." If Zimmerman turns out to be innocent, then he would appear to have a real case for defamation.
Really?
How many times have you seen a post...."so and so is going to own such and such news source after...."???
And have you EVER seen an entity change hands, let alone go bankrupt because of a suit?
Just off the top of my pointy little head the Zimmerman case comes to mind.
