Why you should, if you can, come to London for Margaret Thatcher's funeral
Telegraph UK ^ | 13 April 2013 | Daniel Hannan

When the Duke of Wellington was buried in 1852, a million people – out of a total population of 27.5 million – turned out to pay their respects. Among the reverential crowds lining the streets from Constitution Hill to St Paul's as the twelve-ton carriage passed were many who had disliked his politics.

The hero of Waterloo had gone on to become arguably the most reactionary Tory leader of all time. He had resisted the 1832 extension of the franchise, opposed the granting of equal rights to Catholics and Jews and even voted against the abolition of slavery in India. By any measure, the Iron Duke was (to borrow the BBC's terminology) a more 'divisive' politician than the Iron Lady.

Yet his countrymen were blessed with a sense of perspective. They did not gnaw away at the issues where they had disagreed with him. Instead, they saw the big picture. At a time of national danger, Wellington had stepped forward to save Britain. The Illustrated London News gave a sense of the national mood:

With pomp and circumstances, a fervour of popular respect, a solemnity and a grandeur never before seen in our time, and in all probability, not to be surpassed in the obsequies of any other hero heretofore to be born, the sacred relics of Arthur Duke of Wellington have been deposited in the place long since set apart by the unanimous design of his countrymen.

If so, good for him!

Not something I write (or think) very often.

Obama.

Then they had better get a good hold on that casket as I'm sure that Baroness Thatcher will be spinning in it!

Thatcher “witch” song 2nd in UK charts in death protest
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/14/entertainment-us-britain-charts-thatcher-idUSBRE93D09V20130414

When you see this kind of headline (among the many negative ones) you know the UK is headed in to the abyss of destruction with rest of Western Civ right on her heels.

The only thing I have against her is that she got the AGW ball rolling. I find it ironic that a few short months before her death the Leftist climate establishment changed their mind on the whole thing.

Did anyone see the filthy degenerates out there CELEBRATING her death?

I used it as a great teaching lesson for my daughters. I said these are the UK equivalent of DEMOCRATS~!. Not a decent bone in their body, or enough class and dignity to let a country (let alone a FAMILY) mourn a death in peace.

In the good old days you quietly and respectfully allowed even your ENEMY to mourn his dead. In WAR both sides even stopped long enough to allow bodies to be taken home to their families to be buried.

I fully expected The Queen to come on the air and denounce the boorish and undignified manner in which the usually polite and reserved British behaved.

I would really, really, like to be at the funeral to pay my respects for a truly great lady. Very few politicians can even come close to her conservative legacy. That Reagan and her appeared on the world stage when they did, and did so much, has always enthralled me.

Though I can’t be there to do it, my hat is off to the iron lady.

The left had to do away with manners before they could do away with ethics and morals. Manners and courtesy were the outside symbols of morals and ethics. The left has no use for any of it, how can they undermine the family and other institutions of civilisation if people still have morals and ethics?

With the way the stupid liberals over there are acting, we’re gonna need the damn Patriot Guard over there for the funeral, just to keep it dignified!

MT, was PM, from 1979 to 1990...hence someone exposed to her policies, would have to be in their 50s today...one has to wonder how anyone could carry resentment against her, for such a long period of time....totally disgusting...
