From the LA Times:

It will be “nearly impossible” to trace where pastor Rick Warren’s son bought the shotgun he used to take his own life last week, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department official said.

The gun that 27-year-old Matthew Warren used to shoot himself in his Mission Viejo home on April 5 was unregistered, had its serial numbers scratched off and was purchased online, said department spokesman Jim Amormino. A source close to the investigation confirmed it was a shotgun.

If he bought in online there must be some record of it in his email or on a credit card. It can’t be that difficult to find out.

So they know it was purchased online, unlawfully and illegally but, they can’t trace it???

LOL!!!

they know it was bought online but can’t trace IP’s and they want me to believe this poor soul bought it off the Internet?

Perhaps the true meaning is the equivalent of off the highway ie; he went to buy an illegal gun, in a parking lot, off the highway/Internet....but not far???

Scratched off serial numbers can still be read.

was unregistered, had its serial numbers scratched off and was purchased online,

Shotguns do not need to be registered.............

As for purchasing over the internet, I suspect that's bogus too. But what better argument to use if an agency wishes to pursue an agenda to cut down on all internet gun sales?

Not Fedex, UPS, nor the USPS will ship a gun to anywhere but a FFL dealer.

Rick and the sheriff are lying.
