Mental health advocates yesterday blasted a McDonalds ad on the MBTA that appears at first to be a public service announcement targeting people suffering from depression.
Its really too bad because it trivializes the whole issue of depression, said Julie Totten, executive director of Waltham-based Families for Depression Awareness, which has been running an ad of its own on the T for its Strides Against Stigma Walk on April 27 at Boston University. Were trying to say when you need help, its not a laughing matter. We dont want people to feel stigmatized or made fun of.

We are rapidly coming to the point where all humor consist of:
“some person and some other person did this thing! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Everybody is so freaking sensitive!

I'm Jewish and of primarily Polish extraction. My lovely wife has a good deal of Italian and Irish ancestory in her family. All the dumb Polack/cheap Jew/Italian mobster/Drunken Irishman jokes, we've heard them all. We laugh at this stuff and dish it right back. People, lighten the f up already! Besides, has any of the PC not-sees consider that perhaps McDonalds was trying to reach out to people suffering from depression? Maybe it's Mickey d's attempt at being more inclusive? You just can't win with the left no matter what you do. Alinksi, Cloward and Pliven would be proud.

The PC crowd is subjective in their offenses. I have mentioned the Fiat ad in the past, a woman slaps an innocent man in the face, he is standing on a street corner. A slap in the face. That is accepted? Ads and TV shows ridicule men when hit in the groin. Where is the outrage?!

The ad is just bizarre. It doesn’t make any sense. But I guess because it had a woman who looked depressed on the front, it was fuel for the perpetual outrage machine. I bet Boston area depression charities squeeze a nice fat guilt donation out of McDonalds and their officers all get a nice fat bonus this year.
