Ahead of Wednesdays release of the Obama administrations budget for fiscal 2014, a fair question can be raised: how much does it matter, given that Republicans hold the House in any event? Heres a look at how much of the administrations last budget matched up with what the U.S. actually is due to spend in the current, September-ending fiscal year.
Before the budget cuts under the so-called sequester are tallied, both congressionally approved discretionary spending as opposed to mandatory spending on entitlements and the presidents original discretionary request match each other. The key difference is the details of where the money goes.
