States Look to Apply ‘Sin Tax’ to Firearm and Ammo Purchases (VIDEO)

For venal politicians on the front lines of the movement to subvert the Second Amendment, it’s a cunningly effective strategy: if they can’t ban it, they’re going to tax it.

By adding a ‘sin tax’ to gun and ammo purchases they make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to exercise their right to keep and bear arms. It’s just a principle of economics. Participation drops the more expensive a hobby or a recreational activity becomes, even on an incremental scale.

Of course, as mentioned, we’re not just talking about a hobby or an activity or even a bad habit. We’re talking about a constitutionally guaranteed right. As such, the endgame is pretty clear, to make owning firearms cost prohibitive for common citizens.

Already, Cook County, IL, has succeeded in adding a $25 tax on all gun purchases, which it began collecting this month.

Cook Country Board President Toni Preckwinkle, who spearheaded the effort last fall when the board approved the measure, argued that the tax revenue is needed to fund the unpaid medical bills of gunshot victims and pay for programs that work to curb the skyrocketing violence in Chicago’s inner city – with 506 murders, the Windy City was the murder capital of America in 2012.

“It was very important to us to tax guns — because we know that guns are the source of incredible violence that we have in our neighborhoods,” Preckwinkle said at an October press conference. “And it’s the proliferation of guns that has made the violence in our neighborhoods so difficult to cope with.”

I have expected the recent attempts at over-the-top bans and registration requirements was intended to compromise down to a tax.

Taxes prove relatively easy to ratchet up when first passed as a relatively low sin-tax. Later, they will get serious with the rate by bumping it up, over and over.

If we are going to tax "sins," shouldn't we tax abortion?

And whatever it is that homosexuals do?

I wonder how those leftist extremists would react if we were to propose a voting tax, or an abortion tax, or a tax on books and magazines and theater tickets, or a tax on... "Oh, but that's different!" they'd whine.

Scratch a leftist, and you'll always find a shameless hypocrite.

If he were serious about paying for the healthcare costs of victims he would insist on a $1,500 tax on any vehicle that ihas more than 175 horse power.

There were, after all, more 39,000 deaths last year from automobiles.

Or they could tax hospitals $5,000 for each patient admitted as there were more 190,000 deaths from medical procedures in the last year alone.

Better yet, tax all people over the age of 16. $350 per appendage as there were some 19,000 people killed by hands and feet last year as well.

I heard a New idea yesterday:
Ban all lipstick, mascara and eyeliner. They contribute to glowbull warming and eye infections. It’s for the children .

The ghetto thugs, dealers, pimps, scum, trash, subhuman filth and hoodies are lining-up now, with wads of meth cash, to pay their taxes.

(Do I need the </sarcasm> tag?)

That would be "infringement via taxation". The Constitution doesn't protect gasoline or cigarettes or soft drinks. But the right to "bear arms" is protected. The argument that ammunition is an inextricable component in the effectivity of bearing arms is certainly valid.

This is what I predicted would have years ago, based upon my friendship with allied officers in Europe who endure astronomically high taxes on hunting ammunition. Blue states will place punitive taxes on ammunition to make it less affordable and therefore more scarce. Of course, government entities will be exempt from such special taxes.

Remember back in the 1970s when it was illegal to "import" Coors beer east of the Mississippi River? That's what the movie Smokey And The Bandit was all about. Uneven taxation of ammunition among the states will result in AMMO TOURISM and a highly profitable black market.

I always thought that was Coor's choice, to be sure of maximum quality by limiting shipping distances and delivering fresh product.

Documentation File on the harmful impact of the Counterculture of Obamanation on America.

___________________

Barry Soetoro, aka B. Hussein Obama, 5 days before the end of GWB’s Presidential term, told ‘The Gullible’ the following: “We are five days away from FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORMING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!”

Going on 5 years now, the best friends that Obama could have had to help him achieve his above stated dastardly goal were the RINO leaderships in the US House and Senate, AND THEY ARE STILL IN POWER!

_____________________

IMHO, the Counterculture of Obamanation will continue to destroy America for as long as the US Congressional RINOs allow it to, and not one minute more!

If she were telling the truth then it seems to me they should be taxing criminals. Chicago should put a 10% surtax on all food purchases if they truly want to "nail" the source of the neighborhood violence.

We need to be a lot more specific in our headlines. Conservative States are not doing this.

Most Conservative states are either doing nothing or moving in the other direction towards a better armed and self-defensible population.
