Father Ends Crime Spree by Shooting Armed Robber Outside Burger King
Gateway Pundit ^ | April 7, 2013 | Mara Zebest

A father who was robbed while eating with his family took out his own gun and shot the suspect, Miami Police said.

It happened at about 1 p.m. Friday at the Burger King restaurant at Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 17th Street, police said.

The robber walked in, flashed his gun to the family, demanded their valuables, then headed for the door, according to police.

The father, fearing for his life, took out his gun and shot the suspect in the leg as he stood outside the restaurant, police said.

The suspect, 36-year-old Travis Harris, jumped into a getaway Ford F-150 and took off, police said.

Police said they found him and the driver, 38-year-old Ramon Smalls, a few blocks away thanks to a Good Samaritan who followed them and alerted police. The two suspects were taken into custody at a gas station at Northeast 2nd Avenue and 26th Street after they apparently ran out of fuel, police added.

>>the demographic “African American male, age 15-25” makes up what percentage of the population and what percentage of the crimes committed?

That’s absolutely unfair - to young men. One of these guys was 36. Don’t know about the other one.

The father who fired his gun is not being charged, police said.”

I'm glad, but I think we can assume that the guy is either a cop, or related to a cop to get off with so little inquiry. Unfortunately, if that dad were just a regular citizen, he'd have the bright lights shined in his face and some poor woman crying on the news that her boy is a good man and never was gonna hurt nobody with his gun and now her poor baby'll never be able to walk normally again.

Wow... it used to be that once over 30, these guys slowed down a bit with their criminal behavior.

But I don’t think it’s “unfair” to examine the demographic that I outlined and the disproportional level of criminal behavior, especially violent criminal behavior.

The IBD had an article this morning that answered the question of “why”... and we all know this answer - fatherlessness.

And the cause of the fatherlessness is LIBERAL POLICY.

Dad might walk from criminal proscuetion (let’s hope), but he’s going to go bankrupt in civil court. Butthead stupid move on his part.

Not in Florida he won't.

Actually I probably should have inserted a /sarc tag as you did not miss the mark by much. Or maybe /smirk would have been best.

Yes, liberals do not much like the idea of either fathers or even mothers. All good things like love, nurturing, food, shelter, education should be provided by the STATE in their view.

I know someone that was carjacked in the parking lot of a McDonald's (Tacony in Philly)... the perp couldn't drive stick and just bucked it around until the cops came and picked him up.

The owner of the car told me how she stood there watching the fool and laughing.

With a biblical worldview, it’s easy to see that these destructive policies and viewpoints are none other than Satanic in origin.

Dang. I should have figured that was the reason. They were “entitled” to the money (but not gas) so they could power their fossil fuel powered vehicle to get to their jobs all week long. I guess they must just do stick ups as a second job. Too bad so many folks have to have a second job huh?

Sounds like the Zimmerman case except the shooter wasn’t getting his brains beaten in.

Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law offers complete immunity from civil prosecution. The main reason it is hated by Ambulance Chasers.

Even better if Dad kills the perp. His accomplice would be charged with felony murder. Sometimes, Florida doesn't completely suck.

" If the perp had already left the premises, is it a justifiable shoot?"

It would have been in TX, I think- don't know about FL.

This is how it will play out:

Your Honor, my client was merely seeking to purchase some skittles, and while on the way realized he was out of gas. My client is guilty of nothing more than seeking to borrow gas money from “the father” - he did not deserve to get shot in the leg. For his injuries and mental anguish, we are asking you to award my client $100,000 in compensatory damages from “the father”.

I wonder if he's related to Leonard

Yep. Not being familiar with Miami, I Googled it. They made it all of 0.8 miles before running out of gas. Which one are we going to call Einstein, and which one Dirac?

When I lived in FL and took the ccw class, they were very specific about when you could and couldn’t take the shot. Things may have changed since I took the class but according to the instructors lesson at that time this would NOT have been a justifiable shoot. Shooter better have deep pockets since this asshat will look for deprivation of future earning potential compensation. Just another free ride for one of king husseins sons.
