The U.S. would oust the communist regime in North Korea if it uses its nuclear weapons or launches an all-out invasion on South Korea and the 28,500 American troops stationed there, national security sources say.
The Obama administration has not articulated such a far-reaching retaliation, even as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un threatens to attack both the South Korean and the U.S. mainland.
But national security sources say it is a common assumption within the Pentagon and U.S. Pacific Command that a full-force attack by Pyongyang would put in place a contingency plan of massive retaliation against the North aimed at bringing down the Stalinist regime. President Obama then would be faced with making the war decision.

Doubt if he has the cajones...
I didn’t realize the Muslim Brotherhood was in Korea.
If he did and we win he will win re election in 2016
What about a regime change in the US?
Fat lot of good that will do for the dead. Take the communist idiot out now!! (no, not that one).
No doubt in my mind. We have “sacklessjaweea” running round trying to disarm us law abiding victims. No time for Psy’s twin bro kim jong dung. Hell, we need regime (and I do mean “regime”)change right here at home. Maybe kim jong dung should have held dennis rodman for ransom.
Obama promised NEVER to use nukes. That's likely how we got this far in the first place.
Obama sees an attack on our West Coast as an opportunity to lower the unemployment rate. The draft always does that.
This kid is a nutcase. He may not have the missiles to reach the US but at the very least he can try to attack South Korea in one way or another.
RE: “President Obama then would be faced with making the war decision.”
Oh really? Wonder what the Constitution says about that?
Don't bet on it. China is still run by communists, and they always think in terms of power. They like having a weak and pliant puppet on their border.
If such an attack did take place the U.S. response would be a sternly worded letter followed by an apology to N. Korea.
He wouldn’t have to use a nuke to take the idiot out.
Seem to be the status quo, doesn’t it....
Maybe I’m wrong, but there hasn’t been a Congressional declaration of War since the 1940’s. So I’m guessing that whatever the Constitution says doesn’t count for jack shit at this point.
If we had, quite literally, ANY other President in our history to make that choice I’d be okay with it. Even Carter, previously the worst President of my lifetime.
But Baraq Obama could screw up a one-car funeral.
And what will we do when the 24,000,000 souls, having been trapped in a concentration for 50 years, start rushing southward in search of a decent meal?
We are going to be in deep kimchee, that’s what.
Face it, we are going to have to leave the little bastard there or see South Korea over run with refugees looking for a better life.
I have a feeling the NK military is working on regime change right now. Thats why Kim Jung Un is acting out.
