I lived on 5th Ave as a teenager, and Ireland Army Hospital was basically a short walk out my back door. There were some BOQs in between, but a 1/4 mile at most. The lab at Hardin Memorial Hospital is named after my FIL.

SLB, are you still here, and in the area?

Well, you’re already on the thread, and that answers that question.

Those fun-loving, peaceful, islamic brothers of 0dumb0sh_t just letting off a little workplace frustration.

You seem to have it all solved, already. Call the authorities and let them know.

Looks like it happened right in the parking lot at HRC. Big parking lot, by the way.

I was there for a short time in 1970. Then on to Fort Polk which was a pit.

I was at Knox for Basic in 1971,then on to Polk and it’s wonderful WWII barracks. Calling Polk a pit back then is too kind. Oddly, though, after all these years I kind of have fond memories of it.

AIT at Polk was something. No AC in those old barracks. LOL

I think the only time I spent off post was a movie in Leesville so we could cool off.

Did you go overseas after Polk?

It’s been a while, FRiend.

Well if it was a White, genuinely Christian man with any affiliation with the Tea Party or a Baptist - particularly Southern Baptist - Conservative Catholic or Methodist Church or a pro life organization, we would have already read and heard about it approximately 19958654 times by now. So praise G-d we can rule that out.

I remember the 12+ hour overnight bus ride from Knox to Polk. That was fun. (not! lol) Yeah, those barracks were something else. And I remember the “sneeze sheets” when the cold/flu season arrived. Never had to go overseas. The DI’s warned us to stay out of Leesville, so I stayed out. Some went into town and either had their money stolen or had the crap beaten out of them. Don’t know if relations between the town and the base are better now than they were back then. The little pizza shop on the “main drag” of North Fort was a favorite of AIT trainees. And the little movie house. First saw “Play Misty For Me” there.

I was there in the summer so we didn’t have sneeze sheets. I bet those barracks were cold.

I can’t even remember how we got into Leesville. We got some whiskey and snuck it into the movie and bought cokes.

I do remember the old lady in the concession stand was not very friendly. When we went back for re-fills she suspected we had whiskey but couldn’t prove it. She probably smelled it. LOL

They’re working hard now on the next convenient story that’ll fool half here into slamming anyone who questions it.
