Readers of American Thinker are well aware that conservative thought has made considerable advances with respect to identifying the theoretical shortcomings of Establishment power.
While there is still plenty of work to be done in this area, it is important not to lose sight of the fact that eventually theoretical gains must be translated into practical advantage.
This contribution suggests, by way of examples and two simple, general principles, ways to convert theoretical insight into practical political gain.
The approach is Alinskyite in terms its rhetoric and the function of ridicule.

A caller in to Rush’s show, yesterday, had similar ideas. Play their “Rules” back at them. Unfortunately, there are less than a handful of Repubs (Cruz, Palin and West) who can - and will - do this.

That was really good. I would love to see more of it. I am just not that quick thinking to come up with the questions and responses that cut through the liberal crap and expose their inconsistencies. The author should write a book.
It works, too. I recently shut down a gun-grabber by pointing out that he preferred “esthetics” over “logic”.
When I was a young Military Police Lieutenant our Battalion XO was a big fan of the book "Verbal Judo" and pushed it as a means of de-escalating situations that might otherwise spin out of control.
We all laughingly referred to it as "Gerbil Voodoo." :-)
I recently told a lib who was pro women in combat that the next step was to have all 18 year old women register with Selective Service so women could be drafted should the need arise. A lib coughing fit ensued.
By the way, did you notice how shortly after approving women for front line combat duty, a dem pol started floating the idea of doing away with the selectve sevice system? Libs know this is a third rail issue and want to remove it from the playing field.
What’s impossible to stomach is we have to use these tactics against the bluebloods *in our own GD party* before we can apply them to the liberals. How can we fight our real enemies when our ‘side’ is fraggin’ us from behind? Ridiculous.

As an aside, it is NOT using their tactics, or ‘stooping to their level’...since their attacks are based on hypocrisy and lies whereas our ridicule is indeed based on the truth.
There was actually a lawsuit some years back that wanted the selective service system declared unconstitutionally discriminatory because women were not subject. The court ruled that since only men were qualified for combat positions, the system was not discriminatory. It would be interesting to file a new lawsuit under the new conditions.

Guess I’d better call my sisters. One lives in Boerne and the other lives on 1560 N a few miles from 1604. We had just over 2” of rain yesterday and some small hail on Monday, but missed the bad storm yesterday.
I got an email from basil. She lives just across Lake Travis from us. About 10 miles as the crow flies, but probably 70 by road. They got over 4” from the storm yesterday.
We have many wise and articulate conservatives. The MSM doesn’t like to give them a lot of face time, and when they do, nonetheless, become well known, they are intimidated or ridiculed into silence.
To many liberals, politics and government is their religion. Conservatives can be passionate about politics, but they are often more passionate about their God and families. Thus, when it comes to fighting liberals’ goofy arguments, we tend to quit when we realize reason won’t work. They continue to tell their lies until they are accepted as truth by low information voters and/ or budding young minds.
I’ve been asking anti-gun people if the Obama’s security team should have less guns. I mean, wouldn’t that be safer for him?
My conservative nephew recently asked on facebook if two brothers, who were sincerely in love with one another, should be allowed to marry. Then he just sat back and watched the fireworks. Every lib said no. Then he simply asked a series of questions, and every one of those was, “Why?”

I had a simular conversation with a liberal recently, I asked then what about a brother/sister or a Father/Son or a Mother/Daughter etc etc.....
They were kinda of amazed they never thought of that aspect of it....
I had to laugh as they were admitting that they never thought, LOL
