‘Iran's Plan B is Alawite State If Syria’s Assad Falls’

A Syrian expert on Middle Eastern affairs believes Iran is angling to fragment Syria and create an Alawite state in order to maintain its power in the region, Today’s Zayman reports.

Professor Murhaf Jouejati opposes the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. A member of the faculty at the National Defense University in Washington D.C., he spoke with the newspaper Monday in an exclusive interview about savage civil war wracking his homeland.

The downfall of the Assad regime would strike a lethal blow to the Syria-Iran-Hizbullah axis, Jouejati contended.

“Syria is a major stake for Iran. Syria is Iran’s door to Mediterranean and Arab politics. The fall of the regime would be a tremendous loss for Tehran,” he told the newspaper.

In order to prevent that loss, Iran is likely to attempt to divide Syria and create an Alawite state – one comprised of Muslims who support Assad.

Alawite Islam, a branch of Shi’ite Islam, is practiced by those in power in Tehran and by the Lebanon-based Hizbullah terrorists that have been fighting alongside Syrian government troops.

Iran would thus promote its policies in Syria using Hizbullah as its proxy in an Alawite state, Jouejati said. Both Iran and Hizbullah have long been strong supporters of the Assad regime.

I can see it now. Then they'll be pressured to partition and create a Sunnistinian state, because the Sunnistinians have been in Alawael forever. There'll be UN resolutions calling Alawinism racism...

On the other side of the coin :
The downfall of the Assad regime would be a boost for Al Quaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and Saudi Arabia, and all the Sunni Muslims that hate us Infidels. -tom

Tweedlevil and Tweedlemendacious

Which flavor of diarrhea do you prefer? Israel shouldn’t play the black crow as big as a tar barrel. Let Tweedlevil and Tweedlemendacious continue with their quarrel.

Let Tweedlevil and Tweedlemendacious continue with their quarrel.

That is my take on the Syrian war.
Both fighting sides hate us, and the supporter of both sides hate us, so a win by either side is not good for us. - tom

Iraq will become three nation states—with the south being a puppet of Iran.

Last time I checked, Syria was a majority Sunni Muslim country.

How many Alawite's are there in Syria? Not sure how many Shi'ite Muslims are in Syria in order to create this new State.

Additionally, last time I checked, Sunni vs. Shi'ite has been a real point of conflict within the various geopolitical factions in the region.

Right now, the entire country is a puppet of Iran, and they have a geographical lock on the North and Northeastern borders of Israel, and nothing to prevent goods and troops from traveling freely between Iran, Syria and Lebanon, other than the occasional IAF strike. Just the South becoming a puppet of Iran would be an improvement. It would also be helpful to pull Turkey away from their sphere of influence. But dream on, Bibi, and see what else Erdogan will want you to apologize for tomorrow. So I’ll settle for Syria divided into Kurdistan, Alawaiaiaiaia, and Sunibaboonia. With the Kurds and Sunnis, we might be able to have some limited pull, just because they’re afraid of Iran. That might suffice to screw up the unholy three’s logistics.

Thanks Eleutheria5. Alawites are useless, they should have used their painstakingly engineered ascent to power as the means to obliterate Syria’s Sunni Muzzies. Now look. :’)
