And you think the federal gov’t will allow a new ammo plant to start up?

"There's essentially NO ammo available for retail sale in Colorado."

If hunting and other tourism decreases enough, ammunition will be made available afterward. Political class folks depend on the revenues (recirculating debt) and will stop their multi-pronged approach to gun control (including supply squeezes). There's very little manufacturing in CO, so tourism and federal funding are very important to those who regulate.

I don’t know what you think “turnkey” means, but it doesn’t mean you can run a factory without suppliers.

I don’t need an ammo factory, I roll my own in the basement. I have enough brass to keep loading the rest of my life, powder isn’t a problem and bullets can be cast but primers are the issue.

Where is your primer store? can’t buy more than 1,000 at a time here, and most places are sold out.

Is this your own version of let's start a militia and invite the ATF thread?

****************

Isn't it about time we start thinking along these lines, of getting at least a LITTLE organized? I see a lot of grumpy patriots vowing fury and bloodshed, but they never talk about having any friends to help them out. And that could prove fatal.

Of course, meeting online would be suicide. The Sons of Liberty didn't have the same problems, but they did have security issues.

If Obummer pulled the plug on the Internet, would we all wake up a week later under a different flag?

Impact sensitive explosives, sounds like fun but well outside my comfort zone. I’ve accidently set off a primer before, hate to think wat would happen with a pound of the stuff.

Reload in your basement.

When the panic ends, buy several thousand pieces of brass in each of your calibers, some kegs of powder and tens of thousands of the primers you need. Either get into casting or buy the bullets you need, in about equal number to the primers you have.

It is an enjoyable hobby and is doing something about the problem. A lot of the good conservatives on this site are already doing it.

When in a bubble, prices rise and the supply becomes strained

Then the bubble bursts and people have excess inventory and the price falls to zero

That is in progress

I have heard a lot of people saying the ammo bubble is bursting but show me anywhere that ammo is piling up on store shelves unsold. Yes the shortage is panic driven. People who might buy 1000 rds of 22LR every year will now buy every single case they see on a shelf because they don’t ever want to be without again. Manufacturers cannot possibly keep up with demand that is multiple times their regular supply.

IMHO cooperatives are the answer. You would quickly learn just how intrusive government has become if you attempted to set up an ammo factory. Small, quite, & mobile is the preferred way in my view. There are many already reloading and will train others. Lead is available in wrecking lots, brass at gun ranges & power appears to be abailable. Primers may be the most difficult element to acquire although I purchased 1,000 recently.

Nice list. I checked then all. But not a single round of 9mm for sale, unless you count a few rounds of boutique 9mm for sale on Wilson for a buck a round.

That's a caliber I don't use, but very, very popular. Last week, they were 89¢/round. I don't remember the last time I saw any in the 2-3 FFLs' stores I visit here in PA. Maybe early last fall...

Most everybody I know has enough supplies by now. Besides if anarchy follows the next financial bubble to pop, most of us will be dead in a week or two! I’m just stating the obvious, nobody expects to die.

I have been researching building a factory in Montana for the last 8 months. I have the money and am ready to go. My daughter will run the operation. I am currently looking for the equipment.
