RNC Chairman Reince Priebus to GOP: Don’t go ‘Old Testament’ on gays
Washington Times ^ | Tuesday, March 26, 2013 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued some words of advice for fellow GOPers: Get in the 21st century with same-sex-marriage issues.

“We do have a platform, and we adhere to that platform,” Mr. Priebus said in a USA Today video. “But it doesn’t mean that we divide and subtract people from our party” who favor gay marriage.

“I don’t believe we need to act like Old Testament heretics,” he said in the USA Today video. Rather, Republicans “have to strike a balance between principle and grace and respect.”

His statements come as the U.S. Supreme Court is due to hear two cases on gay marriage — one on a California-voted ban on same-sex marriage, and the other on the legalities of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans the federal government from giving marriage benefits to same-sex couples.

His statements also come at a time when politicians from both sides of the political aisle are renouncing their past objections to gay marriage. On the Republican side, Sen. Rob Portman – an Ohio conservative with traditional values — just flipped on gay marriage, in part, he said, because of the recent revelations of homosexuality by one of his sons.

Maybe we should listen to our glorious chairman Priebus. Lets instead go “Religion of Peace” on gays....yeah that will show our tolerance, right?

Hold a gay conference in Dearborn Michigan.

Come out of her, my people!

Sorry xzins, this is my Country, not theirs.

I won't go down with a fight and I won't quit fighting for what is right on this issue.

Don't put up the white flag so easily.

The republicans would rather “divide and subtract” those who believe in the sanctity of man-woman marriage, it appears.

They’ll subtract me right out of their “party” if they endorse this abomination.

When the New York Times is agreeing with the chairman of the Republican National Committee, it's an indication that somebody has changed their position... and, unfortunately, it's not the New York Times that has changed.

Read this article:

A Republican Left Turn?
By THOMAS B. EDSALL
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/03/27/a-republican-left-turn/

The people who run the New York Times have a lot of wrong views, but they are not stupid, they do their homework, and what shows up in their pages not only influences but also sets much of the agenda in Washington, D.C. What they write counts. Most Freepers understand that the New York Times has a liberal bias that affects their reporting, but in this case, it's hard to argue with their statistics, which appear to be thoroughly researched and carefully presented. The author is saying that the Republicans can afford to antagonize social conservatives because they have no place else to go, and the “leave me alone” message of libertarian conservatives can expand the party to a new audience.

It's a good and logical argument.

The problem is that for some of us, “social issues” aren't just red meat we throw out there to get angry people to vote for us. We really **DO** believe that God's judgment is coming against our country if we continue to defy His law. If God exists, and if He considers homosexuality an abomination, human logic pales in comparison to God's wrath.

Economic conservatism is important because God's Word has a lot to say about finances, but it isn't everything. As Genesis 13:10 tells us, Sodom and Gomorrah were well-watered cities on the plain which Lot chose because of their prosperity.

Those who choose secular economic conservatism and libertarianism over obedience to God have chosen the way of hellfire and death for eternity, and quite possibly destruction in the here-and-now as well.

Human logic has limits, and God's law is one of those limits.
