As many as 1,165 people starved to death in NHS hospitals over the past four years fuelling claims nurses are too busy to feed their patients.
The Department of Health branded the figures 'unacceptable' and said the number of unannounced inspections by the care watchdog will increase.
According to figures released by the Office for National Statistics following a Freedom of Information request, for every patient who dies from malnutrition, four more have dehydration mentioned on their death certificate.

One of the things no one talks about is how the quality of health care in the U.S. is rapidly declining. We are not as bad as the U.K. yet. But it is the direction the U.S. is going.
We will soon have a system that offers exorbitantly expensive poor quality health care.

It will get worse, much worse. A pox on those who allowed this monstrocity to continue.

as a hospital nurse, I no more have time to spend 30" feeding a pt than I have time to stop to go to the br.....they have laid off the aides for the most part and expect the RNS to do it all....so that means if I'm in an isolation room, there is no way I'm going to be there to feed Mr Smith or prevent Mrs Jones from climbing out of bed and breaking her hip, which is almost a death sentence....
we have extensive electronic charting to do, and have to scan all meds, and that takes an ungodly amt of time and that is just a small part of our job....
if you have an elderly family in the hospital, I'd advise you to be there as much as possible....like the old days...

But if a patient wasn't touching their food wouldn't you give IV nutrition or insert a feeding tube, or even NG feeding?
Also if the NHS is doing labs daily signs of starvation would be spotted rather quickly.

Oh, I’m originally from canada. You haven’t seen sh*t yet. At least over here, they treat everyone, regardless of race. Over in canada, I witnessed firsthand hospital guards kick out patients if they don’t pay their govt mandatory medical premiums.

We will soon have a system that offers exorbitantly expensive poor quality health care. Which will increase bad outcomes, which will increase malpractice suits regardless of their merit, which will cause doctors to limit or abandon their practices, which will further reduce quality of care.
