For those who know Goose Creek, it's the Dollar General in Berkeley Square. Not a bad location but the center has a high turnover of businesses. National chains are about the only ones who can stay open for more than a few years there.

Some other Berkeley Square history. The DG store is about in the exact same place as a Chinese restaurant that was forced to close in the 80s for serving dog. The local rag reported how much of a shock that was. If their reporters were more on the ball, they could have just walked over and got the story as the restaurant was a few doors down in the same building as the paper.

In 2000 , liberal Charleston Mayor ( for life ) Joe Riley completed the first leg of his march from Charleston to Columbia, SC. to protest the Confederate Flag. Berkeley Square was the place he chose for a rally and to get more supporters for his tantrum street theater. As went well and he had a high turnout. That is until the media left. Once the march got about a mile down the road, there wasn't enough people left to fill a table at Denny's. There were more counter protesters than marchers.

Back in the day, people of quality never left the house or shook hands in public without gloves, to keep from getting diseases. Now, someone needs to design a bullet-proof baby stroller. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting the baby out for some fresh air, tho.

In the daytime, the place isn’t scary or friendly. Never been there at night but wouldn’t recommend it. Several busy well lit fast food places are very close. Should have arranged to meet there.

warning: my kid was robbed by a bast8rd who was supposed to purchase the equipment. The bast8rd had a gun pointed on my kid. My kid is white, the robber was black. Watch out, Craig’s is not that safe.

Yea, I agree that the location is fine overall. At night, it’s no worse than most of the shopping centers in the Lowcountry. I shop in and around that specific shopping center frequently and it is usually fine. Although, I’m not going to be meeting anyone for a CL transaction after dark there or anywhere else.

I had to read this excerpt and up to paragraph 7 of the link before finding out it was in SC. It’d be nice for the headlines or stories’ introductory paragraphs to state where in the world the incident took place.

GC patch say’s they have a suspect, just waiting for the warrants. Woman was trying to sell an I-pad. Suspect pulled gun and wanted money. She had only $10, so the suspect hit the baby 2 times. Baby went to MUSC and is OK.
GC police are professional and WILL take care of the suspect!

How much do these geniuses think they are going to get robbing somebody at a store where everything sells for a buck?

Link to story with video, but not much new info. Child is on camera with mom and looks fair. Did add that the creep was friends with a woman she knew.
