With help from the C.I.A., Arab governments and Turkey have sharply increased their military aid to Syrias opposition fighters in recent months, expanding a secret airlift of arms and equipment for the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, according to air traffic data, interviews with officials in several countries and the accounts of rebel commanders.
The airlift, which began on a small scale in early 2012 and continued intermittently through last fall, expanded into a steady and much heavier flow late last year, the data shows. It has grown to include more than 160 military cargo flights by Jordanian, Saudi and Qatari military-style cargo planes landing at Esenboga Airport near Ankara, and, to a lesser degree, at other Turkish and Jordanian airports.
As it evolved, the airlift correlated with shifts in the war within Syria, as rebels drove Syrias army from territory by the middle of last year. And even as the Obama administration has publicly refused to give more than nonlethal aid to the rebels, the involvement of the C.I.A. in the arms shipments albeit mostly in a consultative role, American officials say has shown that the United States is more willing to help its Arab allies support the lethal side of the civil war.
From offices at secret locations, American intelligence officers have helped the Arab governments shop for weapons, including a large procurement from Croatia, and have vetted rebel commanders and groups to determine who should receive the weapons as they arrive, according to American officials speaking on the condition of anonymity. The C.I.A. declined to comment on the shipments or its role in them.

Egggzaktly! Obama has been running guns to the Middle East to strengthen the Muslims hold on the area just like he and Holder walked guns to Mexico to the cartel$$$$. The Chicago style criminality of this administration knows no bounds.
Think we now know where the bullets re going. All that 40 cal and hollow point stuff, I would seriously question.
I am betting they are faking invoices, rerouting supplies going to storage facilities and letting the republicans use the DHS as a diversion.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A plan developed last summer by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and then-CIA Director David Petraeus to arm and train Syrian rebels was rebuffed by the White House, The New York Times reported on Saturday.
The United States has sent humanitarian aid to Syria but has declined requests for weapons by rebels fighting to overthrow the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The White House rejected the Clinton-Petraeus proposal over concerns it could draw the United States into the Syrian conflict and the arms could fall into the wrong hands, the Times said, citing unnamed Obama administration officials.
The plan called for vetting rebels and arming a group of fighters with the assistance of some neighboring countries.
Some administration officials expected the issue to come up again after the November U.S. elections, but the plan apparently died after Petraeus resigned because of an extramarital affair and Clinton missed weeks of work with health issues, the Times said.
Clinton, who stepped down as secretary of state on Friday, declined in a recent interview with the Times to comment on her role in the debate over arming the rebels.
And remember that Grandma has to be groped at the airport and Uncle Scam has to look at all your email, phone calls, and financial records because Al Qaeda might get us!

The rebels in Syria are collapsing. In complete disarray with their President resigning and their military leader wounded.
Now you know why they released that false Assad was assassinated story. To cover up their colossal failures in Syria.
Well,...finally media says something.
