The proposed new background check law in the Senate actually forbids lending a firearm to anyone else outside of one's home, or "at a shooting range located in or on premised owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in firearms" or "at a target firearm shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by a State agency or nonprofit organization" or "while hunting or trapping."

So it would be illegal, for example, to go over to your neighbors farm and lend him your rifle to shoot cans with.

Ironically, were the proposed law in effect, many of the campaign photos we have seen of politicians shooting would be evidence of a federal crime. Many of them are not the owners of the firearms, and they aren't hunting, or taking part in a State sanctioned shooting contest, or even shooting at a range "owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization" of the necessary sort.

Apart from the obvious attempt to create a gun registry, the proposed law is just idiotic. Unless there is an exception elsewhere in the bill, it looks like it may even create problems for groups, like police departments, who need to transfer possession of weapons for training or other purposes.

JOHN MCCAIN’S ROLE IN THE USS FORRESTAL FIRE THAT LEFT 168 DEAD

Date: Wednesday, 27-Feb-2008 23:01:46

“Now You Will Know The Rest Of The Story”

McCain crashed 5 jets, plus he was responsible for the horrible USS Forrestal fire In 1967.

Surviving crewmen and those who investigated the Forrestal fire case reported that McCain deliberately ‘wet-started’ his A-4E Skyhawk to shake up the guy in the F-4 Phantom behind his A-4.

‘Wet-starts’, done either deliberately (the starter motor switch allowed kerosene to pool in the engine and give a wet start) or accidentally, shoot a large flame from the tail of the aircraft. In McCain’s case, the ‘wet-start’ ‘cooked off’ and launched the M34 Zuni rocket from the rear F-4 that punctured the Skyhawk’s fuel tank, knocked the M-65 1000 lb. bomb off it’s 500 lb. rated mount, and touched off the explosions and massive fire.

The F-4 pilot was reportedly killed in the conflagration, along with 167 of his fellow Forrestal shipmates (including those who died later from wounds suffered).

‘Wet starting’ was a common practice among young ‘hot-dog’ pilots. McCain was quickly (they were still counting the Forrestal dead) transferred to the USS Oriskany (the only Forrestal crewman to be immediately transferred).

Description: XA4D-1 Skyhawk BuNo 137812 experiencing a wet start (note the pool of JP4 on the ground and the tongue of flame from the tailpipe).

It’s like my new “unpaid” job. LOL! I keep expecting to hear the MRAP pull up outside any time now and 1.4 billion rounds pointed at the house. But, I keep the thorn in place when I can. Locally as well. One of our state senators sends out e-blasts when new “anti” bills come up so we can “get someones attention”. Hopefully the high density population center o-bots are too busy with their ebt cards to pay attention to this.

He wears our distaste like a badge of honor. We’re screwed on this one. No point in calling his office.

It’s too bad that our dumb Republican primary voters wouldn’t do a “background check” on McPain in 2007 and 2008.
