Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) announced in a Mar. 15 commentary that he had switched his position on gay marriage because one of his sons had disclosed he was homosexual, a reversal of views that some conservative leaders criticized as harmful to the people directly involved and to society overall.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said in a statement that he applauded Portman for loving his son no matter what the circumstances but that heas a conservative aware of the social necessity for marriage between a man and a womancould not condone Portmans view about gay marriage.
Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, refuted Portmans assertion when he spoke to CNSNews.com. In this case, [Portman] changed his public policy view., said LaBarbera. He was elected on that plank, hes flipping it now, and thats really a betrayal of the values that he stood for before the Ohio voters.
Ben Shaprio, a 29-year-old conservative commentator and author, echoed LaBarbera's points. If you watch TV, the whole goal of the left is to normalize behavior that a lot of people disagree with, and to make you feel like youre a bad person if you have moral scruples about certain behavior. Its effective because its an emotional appeal. Theres no argument here. I have a gay son is not an argument.

Portman is an idiot. Period.
We will do what we can to send the self-serving a$$hole into the private sector.
As this debate goes on, we believe that most states will continue to conclude that marriage exists to bring a man and a woman together as husband and wife to be father and mother to any children their union produces, said Perkins.
Great statement, but I think that ship has sailed and the USSC will uphold homosexual marriage as a right, denying children the right to be raised by both a mother & a father.
I wonder, if Portman’s kid were to ‘come out’ as being oriented to small children would he change his moral views on pedophilia?
Obviously, Portmans’ moral foundation is built on sand.
That's a very major part of the problem. Shut it off, or watch only wholesome shows/movies.

Well stated. The number of logical fallacies “gay marriage” brings up are all but innumerable.
Portman married Jane Dudley in July 1986.[10] Dudley, who previously worked for Democratic Congressman Tom Daschle, "agreed to become a Republican when her husband agreed to become a Methodist.
RINO !!
Ohio gave us Boehner now this moron.
I wonder where Portman thinks he going. Could he really be so delusional as to think he could win a national election? Maybe he’ll become a Democrat.
While I’ve been blessed that in my immediate family there are no gays. I know of none at all. My wife had one uncle who was mentally deficient who was lived with a guy. That said if one of my son’s decided they were gay it wouldn’t mean I’d be in favor of homosexuality or gay marriage no more than if I discovered they were being promiscuous or cheating on a wife or girlfriend.
Or..people are free to watch whatever they want without instruction from anyone else for heavens sakes.
I have a gay cousin. My husband has a gay niece. Neither of us are for gay marriage. It has no influence on either of us. Though we love both of them very much.
