Police Departments Beg And Barter For Ammo While DHS Buys Up 1.6 Billion Rounds In Past Year

The nationwide shortage of ammunition has left many police departments scrambling to get their hands on the necessary rounds - with some even bartering among each other.

Meanwhile, Rep. Timothy Huelskamp (R-Kansas) says the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has failed to respond to multiple members of Congress asking why DHS bought more than 1.6 billion rounds in the past year.

Police Chief Cameron Arthur of Jenks, Oklahoma says, "Ammunition and assault weapons in general have skyrocketed...In addition to the fact, not only is it a lot more expensive, but the time to get it could be six months to a year, or in some cases even longer."

When you do not submit a budget that is capable of being passed by congress, there is a little problem with those emergency spending measures they have been doing to us for the last 4 years...

There is No real congressional oversight, much less the application of the Bona Fide Need clause...

So this is the way the DHS has gotten away with this till now...The light was turned on and the cockroaches are scattering...

We still have to nail down the rifles, vehicles, and now these armored checkpoint booths that has cropped up in the last few days...

Personally I believe this exposure is all too late to do anything about...

Congress can cut off funding to the DHS and the DHS can sell its military arsenal to fund itself.

My local Walmart has not had any common caliber ammo since late last summer. They have a few dusty boxes of bird shot and some odd caliber stuff that looks like surplus from the siege of Khartoum.

My local shop has all of the 7.62 x 38 Nagant revolver ammo and 6.5 Creedmore that anyone could ever want!

Other than that, forget it.

>>Better drive safely.<<

LOL... that has already happened. Cop asked *where I had been*....told him *I don’t have to answer that, do I?* He said *no you don’t* .....then he proceeds to ask me again! To which I replied *we’ve already been over that, no? He scuffed off to his cruiser sulking. Meh.

Our little town has so many police, they are everywhere looking for the slightest infraction, pulling people over to justify their existence. Makes my blood boil. I’m glad they don’t have ammo....next time I get stopped, I’ll make sure to tease them about it.

What in hell are they doing?

They are getting ready to kill each other as all big government types end up doing after their financial ponzi schemes collapse. See World War II for an example. My guess is quite a few European nations are building up their militaries right now under the radar. Probably paying for the weapons with US debt notes that will never ever be made good.

I’m not suprised he would do this and I will not be surprised if he starts mass murder with the civilian army he’s building.

I lost my surprise factor when the pervert instituted the current sexual molestation program at the airports and Americans gladly presented their children’s and grannies’ croches to pervert Federal agents in the name of catching Islamic terrorists.

Yep .... Now is a good time to buy on credit... hard assets are soon to be much more valuable than paper (or fiat money)

Not just them but us too

"In the past year?"

LOL! It gets funnier every time the gossip takes another step. The DHS purchase is a five-year contract. The ammunition shortage was caused by regular consumers again, because they bought the propaganda of hysteria.

If you want to do something good, stop giving all of your money to crooked scalpers. And tell your legislators to cut funding to DHS. Police work won't win a war against radical Islamists. Warfare is for soldiers. Re-fund defense.

From The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48 :

  Hysteria \Hys*te"ri*a\, n. [NL.: cf. F. hyst['e]rie. See
     Hysteric.] (Med.)
A nervous affection, occurring almost exclusively in women,
in which the emotional and reflex excitability is
exaggerated, and the will power correspondingly diminished,
so that the patient loses control over the emotions, becomes
the victim of imaginary sensations, and often falls into
     paroxism or fits.
     [1913 Webster]

Note: The chief symptoms are convulsive, tossing movements of
the limbs and head, uncontrollable crying and laughing,
and a choking sensation as if a ball were lodged in the
throat. The affection presents the most varied
symptoms, often simulating those of the gravest
diseases, but generally curable by mental treatment
           alone. Hysteric

Amen! Apparently this is what Biden meant when he said they didn’t want to be outgunned. I’d rather the people have ammo than some cop who will do the fed’s bidding.

They sure could try...

I doubt that would be the course Congress takes at this time...I believe they need to make sure there is full discloser, and then go from there...

This may take years...And this administration is in NO hurry to confirm anything they do under the radar...

And we may never get the full story either...

I personally believe we are still in a good position to be in as citizens (Law Abiding)...The Administration and DHS are just trying to keep the real potential resistance off-balance and chasing smoke screens...

Worrying too much about the numbers. and not the details of pre-positioning, intent of use, personnel trained (indoctrinated) assigned...

Look at it this way...You still got yer stuff for now, I seriously doubt you will be one of the ones giving them up without a serious dissagreement...

You are not alone...

You are perceptive Justa - perhaps you and I have had similar life experiences. Though the criminal elite can present the appearance of a unified front, they are nothing more than uneasy, part-time allies all stuffed together into a permanent camp. There is no honor among such thieves, are jealous of each other and do not play well together because everyone wants to be a chief if not THE chief and no one wants to be an indian. When things go sideways with the collapse of economies and governments, watch how fast they factionalize and square off against each other, with each faction trying to bully and manipulate the population to rally to and fight their battles for them. As usual, it's going to be the regular folk caught in the middle, having to choose a side if they are going to live and hope it's not the wrong side. It's on course to occur here, in this nation with the rise of regional tyrannical city-state regimes. "Secession" from the United States has already occurred - there are considerable sections of the nation under leftist rule that do not observe or function under the Constitution in many aspects and are actively expanding that disregard. The break-up of the US is already in progress. At some point in the future it will be a sliver of states that will be observing Constitutional law versus regions/states that do not. The leftists believe they have the oh-so-perfect strategy on how to domino the states into one-party rule under a centralized authority in D.C., but that plan relies on a lot of schemes going exactly right, but in reality it never works out that way, ever. There are always circumstances that throw the game. As history shows, when half-baked theories and plans collide with reality all that comes out the other end are messes for others to have to survive on one hand and clean up with the other. This kind of mess has been replayed over and over throughout the centuries - I guess our turn is coming.

World War II, which followed the Great Depression, rewrote a lot of nation boundaries. Also created some new nations. We are in the later days of our depression and are starting to see the internal civil conflicts erupting. These are followed by the nation to nation regional conflicts.

“You can’t even find the smokey, steel cased Ruskie junk at shows.”

That reminds me....I bought a case of that junk a few years ago and could not shoot them in my S&W 40cal.....I recently bought a HiPoint 40cal carbine and shot a box with no jams and put good groupings down range. Glad I kept em for practice range since other ammo is so expensive and hard to find.

I’m sure there must be ammo makers out there who could put consumers first before they sell to government.
True. Someone with some time on their hands should google up the contact information for few manufacturers, make some inquiries and see what they say.

Have Congress declare 90% of the stash surplus and sell them by auction on the open market in 1000 round lots.
