The nationwide shortage of ammunition has left many police departments scrambling to get their hands on the necessary rounds - with some even bartering among each other.
Meanwhile, Rep. Timothy Huelskamp (R-Kansas) says the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has failed to respond to multiple members of Congress asking why DHS bought more than 1.6 billion rounds in the past year.
Police Chief Cameron Arthur of Jenks, Oklahoma says, "Ammunition and assault weapons in general have skyrocketed...In addition to the fact, not only is it a lot more expensive, but the time to get it could be six months to a year, or in some cases even longer."

Can we get some comments here? If I go down to Pro Bass Shop are they out of ammunition? If this is all true the little socialist bastard in the White House is using our tax money to disarm us! This is unbelievable!

Will the gov be going into the business of selling ammo - at a profit - for themselves - under the proverbial table ???
At whose expense - as usual.

My brother called me today to crow that he finally found 500 bullets for reloading. He had plenty of brass and primers and powder, but reloading components are difficult to come by right now.

I can't comment on what's inside a gun store, but I have plenty of tin foil.
If the public AND the local police have a hard time getting ammo .... guess whom's in the crosshairs ?
Guess who's got the loaded, enhanced weaponry?
But ... I'm just a tin foiler ...

“This is incredible! What in hell are they doing?”
Pretty simple. The police and public will not have nearly as much ammo as the Statzi. Where is the GOP on this? Where is Rand? They aren’t even asking questions.

He needs to take the next step and cast his own bullets.
To: AngelesCrestHighway
After the local police departments (for the most part) took the side of the gun control pushers over the last few months, it is kind of difficult for me to feel any sympathy for them. Maybe they will finally wake up, recognize where the real threat is coming from (and it is NOT from the law-abiding American citizens), and start asking some real questions of their overseers, the Feds.

Know what I find far more incredible?
That Republicans are not demanding answers.
Once again the Republicans are cowering off in the corner, ever afraid of a Democrat the MSM calling them a nut. And the Democrats walk all over them like a door mat ever threatening that they might sneak up behind these Republicans and shout, “BOO”.

To: AngelesCrestHighway
AmmunitionStore.com and CTD are pretty much sold out of 9 mm, .308, and 7.62x39 and very low on .40 and .45. I bought .40 and .45 recently for over $1/rd.

The shelves sure are empty at Walmart. My local Walmart has not had any common caliber ammo since late last summer.
They have a few dusty boxes of bird shot and some odd caliber stuff that looks like surplus from the siege of Khartoum.
That's it.
And the manager says he has no idea when they will recieve an ammo shipment.

Ammo shelves in many places have been empty for months and months.
I thought I saw a thread yesterday where they had the beotch up before Congress to answer for the hug ammo purchases and it absolutely refused to answer their questions. It should have been sent to jail for contempt of Congress.

It still could be the 1973 toilet paper shortage syndrome.
For several weeks, people perceived (due to a joke by Johnny Carson) a shortage so bought up every bit of toilet paper as it was delivered to stores, perpetuating the perception of shortage.

My hubby uses them to cast balls for his black powder rifle but they aren’t much use for anything else. The weights have too much other junk in them. Makes it too hard and will tear up your weapon. Could be used in an absolute emergency I suppose.

It was THE PLAN from the start. They can’t outlaw guns, so they disrupt the ammo supply by buying up all the product..........

In other news, the DHS has issued a statement that they really meant to order Colt 45s. The DHS spokesperson declined to say whether they wanted the wadcutters or the longer hollow-points.

First they came for the lead in pipes.
Then they came for the lead in paints.
Then they came for the lead in gasoline.
Then they came for the lead fishing weights.
Then they came for the lead in solder.
Then they came for the lead tire weights.
Then they come for the lead in ammunition.
Now they come for the ammunition itself.......
I think I see a pattern here..........

You can try backordering ammo at
Sportsmans Guide .
A lot of calibers show a delivery date out into next summer or fall but once an item is on backorder that date can change for the better.
Sometimes in just a few weeks they will let you know your order is available.

That doesn’t mean that the DHS or the government is buying it up.
It very well could be the 55-80 million gunowners buying it up immediately whenever a shipment comes in.
