NY State has established a toll-free tip line – 1-855-GUNSNYS (1-855- 486-7697) to encourage residents to report illegal firearm possession. The tip line also allows for information to be submitted via text – individuals can text GUNTIP and their message to CRIMES (274637). The New York State Police staff the tip line 24 hours a day. Upon receiving a call, troopers will solicit as much information as possible regarding a firearm tip then contact the appropriate police agency with the lead to initiate an investigation. If the information leads to an arrest for the illegal possession of a firearm, the “tipster” will be awarded $500.
This is like something you’d read about in China or Cuba, not America.

Submit more than 2 tips and they won't take the tips seriously.

Then let them bitch and whine about all the calls they are getting that are not leading to any leads for them to confiscate these weapons...
If you are still afraid of them tracking you down, then buy just one pre-paid cell phone...Use it till the minutes run out and toss it...I mean how much is your liberty and freedom worth...Better to harange them this way that fight them on the street...Everyone will lose then...

A gun will generally take one rd in the chamber, plus the mag. So a 10 rd max equates to a 9 rd mag. No the Demolsheviks don’t realize it yet, but once they do, be assured that they’ll enforce it.
One of the commenters in the article brought up a very good and dangerous point...
All it takes for a real criminal to make an easy $500 is to plant one of their useless guns in a law-abiding citizens vehicle or home, call the number and drop a dime on them...
You folks in NYS are really screwed...
I guess we will have to change the slogan: “snitches get stiches” to “snitches get slugs”. What do those idiots think is going to happen to those rats that reveal illegal gun ownership in NYC? The left doesn't like to be ridiculed, make fun of, or for attention to be drawn to them unless THEY initiate it. You've got a phone number, so USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. The left gets nervous when it sees that you will not be pushed around, that you are pro-active and that you will RESIST, DELAY, DENY, OBSTRUCT AND SABOTAGE ANY AND ALL OF THE LEFTS'S ATTEMPTS TO DENY YOU THE CONSTITUTION, FREEDOM, LIBERTY, YOUR RIGHTS.
