Sen. Rand Paul: Illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain legal status

The dramatic shift in the Republican Party on immigration continued Tuesday, as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a conservative tea party icon and possible 2016 presidential contender, endorsed an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws that would allow the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants to obtain legalized status. “Immigration will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. That’s why I’m here today: to begin that conversation and become part of the solution,” he said in a breakfast speech Tuesday morning before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington.

so the illegal alien crime wave continues under your watch and responsiblity mr. paul. crime and no punishment. really? why mr. paul, why?

to grant any form of amnesty and preferential treatment over current applicants would be both foolish abdication of or national right to secure borders and an immoral preference given to criminals over law abiding immigrant applicants.

what possible argument could he give to refute this?

“Of course there should be a possible “path to citizenship” for non-citizens. Perhaps a very difficult path, but a path. We are a nation of (legal) immigrants.”

I don’t understand how we are going to explain to all the legal immigrant how they waited for years in line when they could have been living & working here all along while in line.

We arent. The MSM will tell the world everyone loves the idea and the IMF/UN will punish any country that refuses to pressure their media into compliance.

(R)s ‘baby-stepping us all closer to socialism... while the (D)s are walking toward Communism..

It’s ironic (and smart of them) to start slowing down, as to not scare those few registered democrat constituents that are still REAL Liberals (pre-socialism).. yet, meanwhile, the (R)s (moderate/dem-lites) are trying to reach the speed of sound, thinking that they now have clear path with no interference...

There are still a few of us out here that will NOT give up (OUR country/Constitution) without a fight.. Hopefully more of us than them... with the news media and scare tactics they have put forth for the last 4 decades, I have no idea how many of us there are. BUT, I am sure there are more of us than them, no matter how many times they cheat for votes.commit vote fraud to not only ‘win’, but to sway public opinion.

I definitely agree that social corporatists have their hands around the throat of the GOP.

The only choices I see for a patriotic conservative is to either start a new party or take over an old one.

If only you’d give a little Windy...What’s a few dead babies vaccusucked into a toilet when another GOP RINO or pseudoCon could yuck it up at a party with other beautiful people?

Oh, you're probably right, but it's these doggone core principles of mine. They've kept me dragging my knuckles for decades now. Every time I'm about to get on the bandwagon with the 'enlightened' crowd, they just drag me back to earth with the boring normal people.

Take the last election ferinstance. There I was, busily posting Mr. Milquetoast's liberal record for months, when others here pointed out to me that we HAD to vote for a RINO in order to advance conservatism. Imagine my utter horror at seeing what I'd done!

If only I'd listened to my betters, and had compromised my neanderthal convictions. Maybe we'd be celebrating President Milquetoast's new direction -- more stringent gun laws, signed gay 'marriage' bills, a Cap & Trade law, more abortion clinics, more environmental 'protection', amnesty for illegals....I mean, who knows how much he would have gotten done by now?

( /sarkus maximus...)

I had the dambdest time trying to explain the difference to my Canadian friend the difference between Crony-Capitalism and Capitalism..

I even told him to google the owners of the corporations of who he said was destroying USA, and the rest of the world... I promised him that the owners were NOT only NON=CONSERVATIVES, but also would be listed on the DEMOCRATIC party....

He backed off a little.. (not much though)

Well I know for certain there are at least the 4 million R’s that stayed away from the polls last November rather than vote for a flip flopping R in Mitt Romney, even though they gave us the Muslim Facist!

Have him look up social corporatism. IIRC, it is a great-grandchild of fascism.

The only choices I see for a patriotic conservative is to either start a new party or take over an old one.

Right now, the prospects of taking over an old one (The GOP) are looking bleaker and bleaker. They've gone from being quite about their disdain for us conservatives to being blatantly, obnoxiously, public about it. They are doubling down on their moderate and liberal positions on the issues.

If you mean the Constitution Party or the American Independent Party, then yes, I think it can be done quite easily and I believe they would welcome the infusion of new members with a fighting spirit.

The GOP is on it's last gasp, they will be dead soon as a viable party to take on the DEMS and they refuse to acknowledge the base or listen to the base.

It's time to rebuild.

We didn’t build the mess in one election. We won’t fix it in one election. Compromisers gave is Obama. They could have held to the principles of conservatism and rejected Romney day 1.

But they made excuses and it snowballed as it always does until we HAD to vote Romney.

Bull. I don’t HAVE to sell my soul unless I WANT to. you can buck up now or lose again later. Your choice. But we ain’t voting liberal.
