(Fox News excerpt of AP)
VATICAN CITY Thousands of people are pouring into St. Peter's Square to witness the official start of the papacy of the first pope from the New World.
(snip)
The installation Mass is simpler than the 2005 ceremony for Pope Benedict XVI in keeping with Francis' style, but still grand enough to draw 132 official delegations and religious leaders from around the world, including the spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians who is attending for the first time since the two branches of Christianity split 1,000 years ago.

I’m sure you’ll have a chance to see it again if you want. Thanks for the prayers. Time for me to get up but I’ve not been to bed yet zzzzz

No I missed that part. When I turned on the television the Mass had just begun.
I do think I saw Biden, not sure but if it was him he was wearing sun glasses.

In a gesture to Christians in the East, the pope prayed with Eastern rite Catholic patriarchs and archbishops before the tomb of St. Peter at the start of the Mass and the Gospel was chanted in Greek rather than the traditional Latin.

That Gospel in Greek was very impressive. It was chanted by a priest of the Greek Orthodox Rite in Communion with Rome.
His chasuble was stunning and his voice worth of Sony. And also so reverent. Bringing the book to the Pope to bless, etc.

Never saw up close the tomb of St. Peter. Sunday night, at the close of the “Bible miniseries” when Jesus was with Peter, I thinking, today, his 266th sucessor will be installed at St. Peter’s.

Went into the palace Actually, he went into St. Peter's Basilica to the sacristy to vest for Mass. Then went to the tomb of St. Peter, in St. Peter's Basilica, to pray with eastern Catholic patriarchs and the Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew before the procession to St. Peter's Square where the Mass took place.
The Apostolic Palace is a different building in the Vatican.

Pope Francis is now receiving the palladium and woolen stole that are symbols of papal authority. Um, the pallium is the woolen stole.

the Gospel was chanted in Greek rather than the traditional Latin. Usually at a Papal inauguration Mass, the Gospel is chanted in both Greek and Latin. There was a desire to not have this Mass be "too long" so the Gospel chant in Latin was not done. However, in most Papal Masses the Gospel is only chanted in Latin.
